HYMN: Onward Christian Soldiers

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,

With the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see his banners go!

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,

With the cross of Jesus going on before.

At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee;

On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.

Like a mighty army moves the church of God;

Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod.
We are not divided, all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,

But the church of Jesus constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail.

Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,

Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.
Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King,
This through countless ages men and angels sing.

First Lesson: Revelation 7: 9 – 17

Psalm

The Lord’s My Shepherd (Happy Wanderer)

The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want.

He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me
The quiet waters by.

He lives, He lives,
I know that my redeemer lives
He lives, He lives,
He lives within my heart

My soul He doth restore again;

And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
Even for His own Name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale,

Yet will I fear no ill;
For Thou art with me; and Thy rod
And staff my comfort still.

My table Thou hast furnishèd

In presence of my foes;
My head Thou dost with oil anoint,
And my cup overflows.

Goodness and mercy all my life

Shall surely follow me;
And in God’s house forevermore
My dwelling place shall be

Second Lesson: John 14: 1 - 8

Sermon

PRAYER OF INTERCESSION

LEADER: Let us pray: Almighty God, you have knit your chosen people together in one communion, in
the mystical body of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Give to your whole Church in heaven and on earth
your light and your peace.
ALL: Hear us, Lord.

LEADER: May all who have been baptized into Christ’s death and resurrection die to sin and rise to
newness of life, and may we with Him pass through the grave and gate of death to our joyful resurrection.
ALL: Hear us, Lord.
LEADER: Grant to us who are still in our pilgrimage and who walk as yet by faith, that your Holy
Spirit may lead us in holiness and righteousness all our days.
ALL: Hear us, Lord.

LEADER: Grant to your faithful people pardon and peace, that we may be cleansed from all our sins
and serve you with a quiet mind.
ALL: Hear us, Lord.

LEADER: Grant to all who mourn a sure confidence in your loving care that, casting all their sorrow
on you, they may know the consolation of your love.
ALL: Hear us, Lord.

LEADER: Give courage and faith to those who are bereaved, that they may have strength to meet
the days ahead in the comfort of a holy and certain hope, and in the joyful expectation of eternal life with
those they love.
ALL: Hear us, Lord.

Leader: Lord Jesus Christ, we to you for our brother Constantine Owen, who was reborn by water
and the Spirit in Holy Baptism. Grant that his death may recall to us your victory over death, and be an
occasion for us to renew our trust in your Father’s love. Give us we pray, the faith to follow where you
have lead the way; and where you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, to the ages of ages.
ALL: Amen

COLLECTION HYMN: When We all Get to Heaven

(A collection will be taken for the Curphey Home)

Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,

Sing His mercy and His grace.
In the mansions bright and blessèd
He’ll prepare for us a place.

When we all get to Heaven,

What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory!

While we walk the pilgrim pathway,

Clouds will overspread the sky;
But when traveling days are over,
Not a shadow, not a sigh.

Let us then be true and faithful,

Trusting, serving every day;
Just one glimpse of Him in glory
Will the toils of life repay.

Onward to the prize before us!

Soon His beauty we’ll behold;
Soon the pearly gates will open;
We shall tread the streets of gold.
THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
Now and forever. Amen

The Commendation/Benediction

HYMN: WHEN PEACE LIKE A RIVER

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,

When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.

It is well with my soul,

It is well, it is well with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed his own blood for my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!

My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,

The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

HYMNS ABIDE WITH ME

Abide with me, fast falls the eventide

The darkness deepens Lord, with me abide
When other helpers fail and comforts flee
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day

Earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away
Change and decay in all around I see
O Thou who changest not, abide with me

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless

Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes

Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me
