Motivation Letter

The world is at the threshold of another economic and technological revolution that will
seamlessly combine the power of digitalization, electrical engineering, and automation.
To stay abreast the rapidly transformational world scenario, individuals like myself, nest
ambitions that can enable them to be an agent of change. And what better place to
embark on this journey towards self-actualization than the country of Germany. This is
because engineering in all its forms is the forte of the German nation. Looking back on
more than a hundred years of history, it is safe to say that the Schmalkalden University
especially, has strengthened and enabled the present-day world to bear its monumental
weight. It has not only produced, sustained, and trained undisputable masters of various
forms of engineering but has also inspired the world to follow suit and take direction.
Having harbored the aim to play my part in this combined journey of humankind for a long
time, I nurtured it through a focused and premeditated effort. My bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering from the most creditable university of Pakistan, GIKI, was a
decisive step in this direction. I graduated with a decent GPA of 2.93. During the 4 years
program, I developed a special affinity towards the integration of conventional mechanical
engineering with electronics and information engineering. I am especially intrigued by its
application in the Technology-based industries and plan to pursue a career in the same
field. Although the scope for innovation in this dynamic field is limitless, the pervasive
competition entails that dedicated effort is made to attain greatness and success. My
professional experience as a Trainee Shift Engineer at Thal Limited (an indigenous
manufacturer of Engineering, Building, and Packaging products in Pakistan) not only
strengthened the core theoretical competencies but also gave me a fair idea of the needs
and dynamics of the industrial world. Juxtaposed to this practical training, management
of large cross-functional teams and data interfaces made me realize and gauge the
capacity for automation and the scope for digitalization in industry processes. Hence the
need for a formal degree in mechatronics seemed more pronounced and amplified.
I believe that Schmalkalden University is the premium choice for materializing my dream
of pursuing a mechatronic degree for several reasons. Firstly, the interdisciplinary skill
development that is the forte of the university is reasoning enough for engineering
students to aspire to join it. The world-class faculty, up-to-date curriculum and pedagogy,
and research and practice based learning are just some of the advantages that the
institute offers. The aspect that interests me most about Master Mechatronics & Robotics
(M. Eng.) program is the high proportion of practical engineering training. The specialized
laboratories which have been upgraded lately are just another feather in the cap for the
already renowned institute. The former alumni of this university have been successful
innovators and entrepreneurs and are thus an inspiration for their successors.
Secondly, the core belief in the value of diversity makes the university a heterogeneous
amalgam of various cultures and nationalities. This variance can guarantee a rich and
novel cultural experience juxtaposed to learning. Being a staunch believer in the power
of inclusion and co-existence, my philosophy resonates closely with that of Schmalkalden
University. Not to forget the historical and cultural significance that the city of Thuringia
has gained due to this communion between variegated elements.
Lastly, the importance that has always been attached to sports and athletics at the
university has magnified my desire to be a part of this esteemed and holistic alumni. I
hope I can streamline my skills and passion for football and join the campus team.
To steer me closer to the vision of a world-class degree, I have completed all the
prerequisite arrangements. A band score of 7.5 in IELTS and German Language level A1
from Goethe Institute, Karachi are few of the many small steps that required meticulous
preparation and dedicated effort. I look forward to a prolific and long-term commitment
with the university and hope that I can truly benefit from the treasure of knowledge and
expertise that is the emblem of this esteemed institute.
