Install and configure Network services and Applications* of your choice to

accomplish above user requirements. (Ex: DHCP, DNS, Active Directory,

Proxy, Web, Etc.)

Operating System is the main system software that is designed to simplify the networking of
the computing devices. Typically, in network operating systems it includes an
implementation of TCP/IP protocol, which means a communications protocol for linking
together diverse computer systems. The main purpose of an operating system is to enhance
the process of workstations, databases, personal computers and other peripherals, which is
connected to the network.

There are several Operating System vendors in the market such as Cisco, Microsoft, and
Linux
etc. Based on our scenario, I am going to use the Operating System that is built by Microsoft.
There are several versions introduced by the Microsoft such as Windows server 2003, server
2008, server 2012 and Windows Server 2016. Windows servers are more vigorous variations
of the mobile operating system that are built to handle enterprise networking, internet /
intranet storage, repositories, company communications that related functions more
efficiently. It is a server operating system that allows network functions such as print server,
domain controller, web server, and file server to be performed by a computer. Also, it is the
framework for separately acquired server applications like Exchange Server or SQL Server as
a server operating system.

According to the scenario of VIDCO-19 company, I suggest Windows Server Operating

System 2012 as the server machine, the reason I did not choose the latest operating system
2016, because it’s the latest version launched by the Microsoft, it includes some bugs, and it
crashes sometimes. Therefore, I highly recommend 2012 and we can have an error free
network.

Before installing the server OS, you should have installed the VMWare software. In this
report I have used Workstation 15.5 Pro as the VMware.

Configure the network services and application

As the network consultant in VIDCO-19 Company I’m going to configure these network
services and applications. Installation and configurations are like following.

First, we should open VMWare workstation pro and then click Create a New Virtual
Machine.
Then you get an interface with VMWare and click Next button in it. After that you should
choose the server operating system that you want to install from the root directory and click
Next. Then you should select the file path that needs to be installed in the virtual machine.
Then click Next.
In the upcoming GUI you will have a summary of the virtual machine and then you have to
click Finish.

These are just some of the basic steps that one should follow in VMWare in order to install
the server 2012. Therefore, the screenshots can be presented below onwards from the
beginning of the installation process except the fundamental things.

a) Installation of server screenshots

Succeeding the previous settings of VMWare, it will displays the installation settings. After

boot the server .iso image file take the defaults on the Language screen, and click Next.

Then you will get the option to install the server. Click Install now on that screen.
In here, select the operating system that you want to install.
Then read License Agreement, Turn on Checkbox “I accept the license terms,” and then click
Next.

Click Custom: Install Windows only (Advanced)

Select the disk you will be installing on. If you do not want to change drive options(optional),

Click Next. Otherwise, you can change drive and go ahead.

It will then start copying files. This will take a while (could be 20 mins or so

depending on hardware performance).It will reboot a couple times (automatically)

Enter a new password for this computer. It must meet complexity requirements. Re-enter the

password in the second password box, and then click Finish.

Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete at the same time to get the login screen.

Sign in with the password for the administrator given by you before.
Once the installation is done, it will display Windows Server Manager 2012.

Then it will display the main dashboard of Windows Server Manager 2012.
Then you need to go the local server in server manager to complete the rest.

b) Change Server Name and IP setup screenshots

As we need to change the server name and IP according to the given scenario, give the
relevant
name for computer and then click change.
Then the computer name will be changed.

After that click on Ethernet0 go properties untick version 6

Then go properties of internet protocol version 4 and give the suitable IP address. Click ok
and close.
