If your engineering/geoscience related bachelor’s degree is from outside of Canada, you will
have to apply as an Engineer-in-Training – International Graduate/Geoscientist-in-Training –
International Graduate from the APEGS website www.apegs.ca.
1. To start an application, you will need to create an account with APEGS first. You can do
this by going to https://www.apegs.ca/Portal/Pages/sign-up-member
* If you have applied to APEGS in the past then you already have an account and you would not use
this sign up page. You would go straight to APEGS Central (your online profile) by clicking “Login” on
the top right corner of the APEGS home page www.apegs.ca, and use your 5 digit user id to login.
i. Check your email for “APEGS - Sign Up Verification” from APEGS apegs@apegs.ca. The link in this
email will take you directly to the APEGS Central login page and provide login instructions.
ii. After you have logged into your APEGS Central Home page select “Applications”:
v. Complete your application by selecting Application Form from the Application Submission
Requirements listing.
Submission of your application form will be completed upon payment of the application fee of
$210. All application fees are non-refundable.
2. Once your application has been accepted, your online portal will be updated to show the
following requirements:
• WES
• Proof of ID
• Resume
3. After we receive your WES assessment, additional requirements will be added to your
online portal, unless you fall under Special Case #1 or #2 (please see website for further
information)
• Academic Assessment Fee - $210
• Self-Assessment
4. After all required documents are submitted, your file will be placed in line for review to
evaluate whether it meets our standards. The review process can take anywhere from
2-4 months to complete. The result will be sent by email.
• Deficiencies:
If APEGS’ assessment reveals that an applicant’s academic qualifications are below the established
Canadian standard, they will be assigned a Deficiency Exam Program aimed to remedy identified
deficiencies for licensing purposes. A Deficiency Exam Program may consist of basic studies exams
and/or discipline-specific exams.
• Confirmatory exams:
Applicants whose undergraduate bachelor’s engineering degree was obtained via a program that
appears to be similar to the respective CEAB-accredited program are usually assigned
Confirmatory Exams. The intent is to give the applicant an opportunity to demonstrate that they
have an academic preparation that is deemed to be equivalent to that of a graduate of a CEAB-
accredited program.
If required, this is the step where you would receive your result letter to give to SINP.
For more information see the Technical Exam page on our website - https://www.apegs.ca/apply/how-
