Step 01 : Determination of Load
Dead Load :
1. Self Weight :
1 5+1.5
Self Weight = 2 × × 0.150 = 0.041 𝑘𝑠𝑓
12

2. Floor Finish :
Floor Finish = 25 psf = 0.025 ksf Total Load, w = 1.2DL+1.6LL
Live Load : =1.2×(0.041+0.025)+1.6×0.02
=0.1112 ksf
Live Load = 20 psf = 0.02 ksf

Step 02 : Determination of Moment

Step 03 : Effective depth check for maximum Moment

Maximum Moment, 𝑀𝑢,𝑚𝑎𝑥 = 0.1251 kip-ft/ft = 1.5 kip-in/ft

Step 04 : Reinforcement Area Determination

𝐴𝑠,𝑚𝑖𝑛 = 0.002 𝑏𝑡 𝐴𝑠 𝑓𝑦 = 40 𝑘𝑠𝑖 5 + 1.5

𝐻𝑒𝑟𝑒, 𝑏 = 12 𝑖𝑛 & 𝑡 = = 3.25 𝑖𝑛

𝑀 −𝑣𝑒 = 0.1251 𝑘𝑖𝑝 − 𝑓𝑡/𝑓𝑡 𝐴𝑠 −𝑣𝑒 = 0.0186 𝑖𝑛2 /𝑓𝑡 < 𝐴𝑠,𝑚𝑖𝑛 = 0.078 𝑖𝑛2 /𝑓𝑡
