Format of general journal
When specialized journals are used, general journal is still maintained to record any
transaction that does not fit to be recorded in specialized journals.
These are:
• opening and closing balances
• drawings in terms of goods
• purchase of non-current assets on credit
• capital contribution in terms of non-monetary items

Orkaz Enterprise is a business involved in buying and selling books and magazines in
Tapah, Perak since 2019. On 1 October 2021, the following are the opening
balances for Orkaz Enterprise:

Cash at bank RM30,000
Office furniture RM10,000
Motor vehicles RM60,000

On 2 October, the business bought 5 units of multi-purpose racks from Ermez


Trading which cost RM250 per unit on cash basis

On 6 October, Orkaz Enterprise sold 50 units of educational books amounted


RM1,000 to Puan Hatice on credit.

On 10 October, Orkaz purchased inventory on credit from Nazli Bhd of RM5,000 and Buku Ittew
Bhd of RM8,000.
