Latin American Herald Tribune on August 4, 2011 released the following: MEXICO CITY The Mexican Attorney Generals Office said Thursday it extradited a former flight attendant who had fled the United States after his arrest for setting fire to a planes bathroom. Eder H. Rojas, a Mexican national, was wanted for extradition by a federal court in North Dakota for setting the fire 35 minutes after the Compass Airlines flight carrying 76 people took off in 2008 from Minneapolis bound for Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Rojas, then 19, another flight attendant and a passenger extinguished the blaze after the fire alarm sounded, but the plane still was forced make an emergency landing in the North Dakota city of Fargo. After being questioned by FBI agents, Rojas confessed that he was upset with the airline for making him work the Minneapolis-Regina route and that was why he used a lighter to set fire to a packet of toilet paper in the planes bathroom. Other flight crew members testified that Rojas had asked for an extra packet of toilet paper before the plane took off and that led investigators to suspect the Mexican, who eventually confessed. After his arrest, the suspect escaped from a low-security detention facility and fled across the border into Mexico.

Rojas was subsequently arrested in Mexico by Federal Police officers and jailed in Mexico City, the AGs office said in a statement. The Mexican government extradited Rojas after he had exhausted all avenues of appeal and the suspect was handed over at the Mexico City airport to a group of U.S. Marshals, the AGs office said. Rojas faces up to 20 years in prison. EFE To find additional global criminal news, please read The Global Criminal Defense Daily. London Free Press on August 5, 2011 released the following: COURT: Paul Graham Fry is indicted in an online child porn bust

By DALE CARRUTHERS, THE LONDON FREE PRESS A jailed Elgin County man is fighting extradition to the U.S. after being indicted in a major online child porn bust. Paul Graham Fry, 54, of Vienna, was one of two Canadian citizens swept up by Operation Delego. Launched in 2009, the investigation targeted more than 500 members of Dreamboard, a website the U.S. Justice Department calls a private, members-only, online bulletin board that was created and operated to promote pedophilia and encourage the sexual abuse of very young children, in an environment designed to avoid law enforcement detection. Fry is accused of engaging in a child exploitation enterprise, conspiracy to advertise the distribution of child pornography and conspiracy to distribute child pornography. He was indicted March 16, according to the Justice Department. Fry is being held at the ElginMiddlesex Detention Centre and was denied bail, said his lawyer, Gordon Cudmore. The Americans want to have him extradited to the state of Louisiana to face charges there, Cudmore said. Our position is the American justice system does not have jurisdiction over Mr. Fry for what he has been involved in, or not involved in. Fry hasnt been charged in Canada, Cudmore added.

Once again the American judicial system seems to think it has jurisdiction over the entire world, Cudmore said. Wednesday, authorities said 72 people have been charged and 52 arrested under Operation Delego. Nineteen of the suspects are from countries outside the U.S., including Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, Hungary, Kenya, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Qatar, Serbia, Sweden and Switzerland. So far, 13 people have pleaded guilty. At a news conference, assistant attorney general Lanny A. Breuer described Dreamboard as a living horror. Dreamboard was, according to court documents, a self-described global community of pedophiles, dedicated to the relentless victimization and exploitation of children 12 and younger. Users were required to upload nude or hardcore child pornography to gain membership to the community, and would then rise in the ranks of the strict hierarchy based on how much graphic content they contributed, Breuer said. Authorities allege Fry went by the pseudonym Lofty on Dreamboard. To find additional global criminal news, please read The Global Criminal Defense Daily.
