All ALM processes are supported by SAP Solution Manager SAP Solution Manager is SAPs platform for ALM. With SAP Enterprise Support, the scope of SAPs support offering has been enhanced. The focus is on the support of complete customer solutions, not only on single applications. Support of non-SAP applications is included as well. SAP Solution Manager provides the functions required for the delivery of the enhanced services.

The ALM processes span the complete lifecycle of application management. Here you see the 10 core ALM processes defined by SAP. They include all activities required to run your business applications efficiently. There is no 1-1 relationship between ALM processes and ALM lifecycle phases. E.g., Solution Implementation starts with the collection of requirements (Requirements phase) and ends with go-live (Deploy phase). The operations phase includes the ALM processes Application Incident Management, Technical Operations, and Business Process Operations.

With SP 27 of ST-ICO add-on the Business Process Repository (BPR) content for all ALM processes has been shipped. With its unrestricted availability all customers can take advantage of this release.
By bringing the ALM processes into BPR we have created a usable, homogenous template to lower the barrier to implement ALM scenarios. With this version we are shipping the ALM process structure and all related configuration and customizing content based on SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP 1.
With next releases of ST-ICO the content will be enriched with further material like Best Practice Process Documents. An Update for SAP Solution Manager 7.1 is also planned.
With the help of the ALM BPR content customers can easily:
See
and understand the ALM standard processes coming with SAP Solution Manager right use cases or best practice fitting their needs
a combination of processes ensuring a smooth data flow without gaps implement ALM processes and SAP Solution Manager capabilities

Each system or software component relying on a certain technology stack (most often either ABAP, Java, .net, or C++) provides proprietary diagnostics to fulfill common diagnostics tasks on that component. SAP Solution Manager introduces a new layer of diagnostics that aims to isolate the component that is the root cause for an incident. On top of this root cause analysis (problem resolution), Solution Monitoring and IT Reporting aim to detect problems proactively and report on capacity trends, service level agreements, and solution quality. SAP Solution Manager 7.0 features four-cross component diagnostics capabilities: E2E Change Analysis: Makes changes to the productive landscape transparent (Yesterday it worked, today it does not work; What has changed?) E2E Workload Analysis: Isolates general performance bottlenecks in a solution landscape E2E Exception Analysis: Isolates exceptional situations, such as fatal entries in logs or dumps in a solution landscape E2E Trace Analysis: Records the activity of a single user or a single process in detail
