Women entrepreneurs across the world are faced with the challenge of accessing sufficient
capital for business startups and maintaining businesses. This is a significant drawback for
economic development in the 21st century. Education and empowerment have been cited as key
to promoting the economic growth of women. For example, women entrepreneurs could
collaborate with educational and research institutions to develop innovative and pragmatic ideas
essential in starting and operating businesses characterized by excellent performances. Educating
women aspiring to be entrepreneurs on channels they would use to acquire government funds to
start businesses would increase the number of women engaging in innovative and successful
business activities

Throughout history, we have always seen shipping as a male-dominated industry. Over the
last two decades, however, women have been breaking stereotypes and foraying into the
maritime world, creating an identity for themselves.
There are women who have refused to be bound by the societal norms and charted an
independent course. Strong and determined, they have fearlessly sailed beyond the horizon and
created history!
Sadaf Naz was born in 1977 in Karachi, Pakistan. She belonged to a middle-class family. An
entrepreneur whose journey started at the age of 14, after her father died due to cancer. In Dubai,
Sadaf's father ran a successful embroidery business, but it eventually failed after he passed away.
Sadaf had 8 siblings and to feed her family she had to step out of the house with her sister.

She started out working at “sea gold shipping” as a telephone operator. Since she wasn't yet
qualified, she was obliged to work there. She was in the tenth grade. Her employment with this
company terminated in 1994 when it was closing, but the clients recruited the workers from this
company. After working for the previous company, Sadaf cultivated a passion for shipping, thus
she was later hired in the sales department at “Zubies Enterprises”. She became the seventh
female to work in the shipping industry of Pakistan. She gained a significant amount of
knowledge from this position and worked in this company for 3.5 years.

The agricultural industry in Pakistan was expanding at the time, and rice was exported in
huge volumes. As a result, Sadaf acquired long-term customers including Al Noor rice, Mudaab
export, and Dana rice. Sadaf switched companies and began working at “dynamic shipping”, a
known corporation, and a multinational firm because the previous company was underdeveloped
and she wanted to obtain more expertise in her field. There, she met some incredibly
encouraging co-workers who inspired her to finish her education. Sadaf secured enrollment
in the university and earned a BA degree after realizing the significance of education.
She took a six-month shipping course from PIFFA after earning her bachelor's degree, which
strengthened her profile and added to her resume. She had to leave her career in 2000 because of
her marriage, but she returned to dynamic shipping in 2004.

After this, she worked at an MOL which now exists as “ocean networking express line” and
now she had grip in sales and documentation along with her degree thus she was hired at
professional grade than the previous companies. This company’s head office was located in
Singapore. Her core work in this job was that she had to report the news of Pakistan to head
office report had to cover the dollar exchange rate, inflation, trade, import, and export. The news
was related to Pakistan’s economy and was submitted twice a week. After leaving this firm she
came across to “rays international” and “water link”. These were the companies that were
merged later on and she was recruited there. In this firm, she was provided with higher salary
and was given incentives as well such as car and medical facilities.

In this firm, she met Zahid Choudhary and captain Mustafa who were very supportive
colleagues. They encouraged her a lot. The core of this company was consolidation. They had to
achieve a given target which was x3 of their salary but as she got the best clients there like
Yunus textile mills, Hussain leathers, Pakistan leathers, and Gul Ahmed and these were the
clients who are still working with her so she was able to achieve x5 times of her income.
She afterward attended a conference at PIFFA where she met Naeem Choudhary, the
manager of "Freight system”. The lack of constraints in this Dubai-based business marked a
turning point for Sadaf. Regardless of the field, you operate in, their main goal was to increase
business for the corporation. Being a committed worker, Sadaf earned five times as much as she
was paid. She had export exposure from this company, and the business did not place any
restrictions on how many sales travels she could take.

Many Pakistani women look up to Sadaf because she overcame obstacles head-on and
proceeded on her epic journey. She did not set boundaries for herself and worked hard to
succeed. She became an entrepreneur as a result of her commitment and persistence. A strong
woman who inspires young girls and women to defend their rights and take on the evils of the
world. She became the resilient woman she is today as a result of the challenges she overcame as
a youngster.

Then in April 2014, Sadaf launched her own freight forwarding company “FREIGHT
SOLUTIONS PAKISTAN” with 2 more partners of 30% respectively whereas Sadaf had 40%
shares of the company. Later on, one of her partner Sohail Raza withdrew from the partnership
and and started his own transportation.
