Comments : Advised: Repeat Dengue serology after 3-5 days if the patient continues to be symptomatic.
Note: This is only a screening test.
further confirmatory test Elisa is advised.
Interpretation:
* Negative : No detectable IgM antibodies. The results does not rule out dengue infection. An additional
sample should be tested in 7 to 14 days if early infection is suspected.

*Positive : Presence of detectable IgM antibodies. Indicative of other an active primary or secondary dengue
infection.

*Presence of dengue NS1 Ag is suggestive of primary dengue virus infection. Retest after 5 days to check for
rising levels of Igm.

Expected Values:
*Primary Dengue infection is characterized by the presence of significant or rising levels of IgM 3-5 days after
the onset of infection, which can persist for 3-5 months.

*Secondary infection is characterized by elevation of specific IgG 1-2 days after the on set of infection and in
the majority of cases (>70%) is accompanied by elevation on IgM.

*In early infection and some secondary infection detectable levels of IgM antibodies may be low.
