My personal take on the issue of whether or not the time used in learning a trade for career

development is as valuable as the time invested in a college degree, is that firstly, it is important to look
at both opportunities and what you may benefit from each field. When it comes to having a college
degree, many would say it’s defiantly vital to have in this day and age. Especially according to the article
“A college Education: The Key To Success”, which quotes “A college degree is just as important-- it’s a
necessity, which also supports another reason as to why a college degree is as valuable as a trade is,
which the article states, first many careers require a college degree and college graduates also earn
more money than non-graduates. In which may result in a more fulfilling retirement, says the article.

However, there are many great benefits to learning trades as well! Many would be surprised to that
middles skill jobs account for half of all jobs in the U.S. that pay more than jobs requiring a college
degree. Not only is learning a trade a different way to learn, it also may take as little as 3 months to 2
years to learn everything you need to know about a trade. I can’t deny that I personally am more
fascinated in learning a trade not only due to the faster paced learning but also its good to know as it
states in the article “Learning a Trade : An Alternative Path To Success” Four years of college isn’t your
only option. You could start earning more money, more quickly, and without incurring so much debt.
And that is my position on whether or not the time used in learning a trade for career is as valuable as
the time invested in a college degree.
