Vision

To recognize disaster threats, and to produce student nurses who utilize skills and knowledge
that will reduce vulnerabilities and uplift knowledge towards disaster management and
preparedness and bring awareness into society nationally and globally.

Mission
To ensure resilience to disasters by strengthening preparedness and response capabilities,
which fosters growth and maximizes the potential of each nurses in providing immediate basic
survival needs to disaster-affected populations and to appraise both the risks and resources in
the environment.
Goal
To develop competent and resilient nurses in promoting strategies and to ensure nurses are
able to respond to a disaster with sound knowledge base, skill development, and advocation of
continued care needs.

Objectives
To provide an effective leadership, essential to help student nurses to carry out their roles
during disaster.

For student nurses to acquire sufficient knowledge to understand the effectiveness of health
care systems' disaster response that is dependent on the capacity of nurses. The role of nurses
as leaders must be enhanced.

To develop critical thinking skills as nurse leaders for decision making and disaster management
on local communities.

To create and implement measures to mitigate public health risks from natural and man-made
disasters.

To improve the awareness of student nurses on both natural and non-natural risks as well as
formulating preventative measures by making appropriate plans.
For the student nurses to demonstrate cooperation and coordination while also raising disaster
awareness.

To conduct scenario-based activities to improve disaster preparedness and response on both


student nurses and faculties

To provide interactive drills and exercises where they can learn different skills and appropriate
responding to disaster preparation and disaster response.
