In Maria Ressa’s Nobel Prize speech she implemented and conveyed her beliefs and what
she believed in, to the broad audience. In her speech she uses freedom of expression to expose
abuse of power, use of violence and growing authoritarianism in her native country, the
Philippines. She also stated in her speech that “Our greatest need today is to transform that hate
and violence, the toxic sludge that’s coursing through our information ecosystem, prioritized by
American internet companies that make more money by spreading that hate and triggering the
worst in us… Well, that just means we have to work much harder.” This is her argument.

I understand that she is trying to ameliorate the audience by informing and somewhat
convincing them into making the world a better place. The audience's beliefs should include how
the audience is aware of how people abuse the power they have been given and how violence is
on the rise in our country. The audience's beliefs should be focused on how they can transform
these atrocities into something that will make the world a better place. The audience should
believe that the main point we require is facts, truth, and trust. The values are the same as in
social media. According to Maria Ressa, "What happens on social media does not stay on social
media." "Virtual violence is real-world violence." What the audience values influences the
violence in the world.

The audience must awaken and focus on how to fight for a better world. How the
government's every action affects us as a whole, as well as ensuring that we have impurities.
While fighting, facts, truth, and trust are essential. The audience's need to draw the line and
ensure that in order to be good, we must believe there is good in the world. To keep the line
together, the audience must understand why they are there.
