“What’s that sport?”

This modern sport is perfect for racket-lover enthusiasts. Pickleball quickly rose to fame in
the Philippines. It’s mostly popular in Manila local clubs and places like Pampanga, Cebu,
and Bulacan. It’s easy to learn the rules and techniques, especially for those who are familiar
with pickleball’s sibling sports; Badminton, Table Tennis, and Tennis.

This modern sport can be played in outdoor and indoor places where 2-4 players can
participate in the match. A paddle and a ball made from the hard polymer are used in the
game over a net.

It was first officially played in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, Washington. It is now gathering
interest worldwide and will get to be part of international championships.

Many new federations and organizations of pickleball sprouted in the Philippines. One of
them is the Philippine Pickleball Federation increasing its popularity. Its rules are similar to
badminton. It's stated that the score is announced before each service by the official
overseeing the match. There’s also the two-bounced rule where the ball can never bounce
more than once before it is returned.

This fun sport is challenging, sparking Filipinos' interest who is titled as huge sports
enthusiasts.
