ABSTRACT

Jaap Haartsen has been active in the area of wireless communications for
more than 25 years. In 1994, he laid the foundations for the system that was
later known as the Bluetooth Wireless Technology, enabling connections
between a seemingly endless array of devices.Bluetooth technology allows
devices to communicate with each other without cables or wires. Bluetooth relies
on short-range radio frequency, and any device that incorporates the technology
can communicate as long as it is within the required distance.

They use short-wavelength, ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio waves within

the range 2.400 to 2.485 GHz, for wireless communications. Bluetooth is an
extremely common technology, found in pretty much every cellphone, most
laptops, many desktop-class personal computers, and in ever-growing number
of cars and many more.
WORKING

Bluetooth Network consists of a Personal Area Network or a piconet which

contains a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 8 BlueTooth peer devices- Usually a
single master and upto 7 slaves. A master is a device that initiates
communication with other devices. The master device governs the
communications link and traffic between itself and the slave devices associated
with it. A slave device is a device that responds to the master device. Slave
devices are required to synchronize they’re transmit/receive timing with that of
the masters.

In addition, transmissions by slave devices are governed by the master device

(i.e., the master device dictates when a slave device may transmit). Specifically, a
slave may only begin its transmissions in a time slot immediately following the
time slot in which it was addressed by the master, or in a time slot explicitly
reserved for use by the slave device

ADVANTAGES

 Using Bluetooth we can share various applications.

 We can connect to different electronics using Bluetooth.
 It guarantees security at the bit level. The authentication is controlled
using a 128bit key.

DISADVANTAGES
 We cannot share files which are of larger in size.
 We cannot connect to various appliences all at a time.
CONCLUSION

Bluetooth is a standard used in links of radio of short scope, destined to replace

wired connections between electronic devices like cellular telephones, Personal
Digital Assistants (PDA), computers, and many other devices.
