FORCE ANALYSIS FOR SLIDER CRANK MECHANISM

USING SIMULATION SOFTWARE

AIM:
To analyze a slider crank mechanism using a simulation software.

SOFTWARE REQUIRED:
Simulation software – Adam’s View

PROCEDURE:
1. Using the link lengths given obtain the coordinate points of the joints using the graphical
method.
2. Now create links in the simulation software using the coordinate points. To create a link,
choose Rigid body link in the Bodies section.
3. After creating bar links, create the slider body using the Box rigid body.
4. After creating the complete mechanism create translational joints and revolute joints by
clicking the corresponding bodies for the joint.
5. Select the Translational Joint Motion under the Motions column.
6. Run the simulation by clicking the Interactive Simulation. After the simulation has
stopped running Verify the model to obtain the degrees of freedom for the mechanism
7. To generate the graphs, select the plotting option and the respective Model.
8. Select “body” under Filter, the slider body under Object and velocity and acceleration
one after the other for the “magnitude” component. And add the curves.
RESULT:
Thus the four bar mechanism model has been successfully verified using the simulation
software.
