Satoshi Tajiri. The name Pokémon comes from the contraction of Poketto Monsuta, i.e. Pocket
Monsters. Pokémon is both the name of the multi-billion dollar franchise and the name of the
creatures that inhabit the world of the Pokémon universe.

He also liked collecting insects.

Satoshi Tajiri came to work for Nintendo and met Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario and Zelda.
The first Pokémon Green and Red video games were released on Game Boy in 1996 only in Japan.
