AMINO ACID
Defination;
Amino acid are the building block of proteins in the living organism

Types Of Amino Acid

There are two TYPES OF AMINO ACID
 ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS
 NON-ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS

ESSENTIAL AMINO ACID

The amino acid that have to be taken through diet as they ”CAN NOT” be produced by the body , are called ESSENTIAL AMINO ACID

EXAMPLLE
Valine (V), Histidine (His) etc

NON-ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS

The amino acids that needs to be taken in through diet as the body can produce them, are called NON-ESSENTIAL Amino Acids.

EXAMPLE
Arginine (Arg), Glutamic Acid (Glu) etc
Enlist the Common Amino Acid
Keys
 Aliphatic
 Aromatic
 Acidic
 Basic
 Hydroxylic
 Sulfur Containing
 Amidic
Essential Amino Acids Non-Essential Amino Acids

There are nine essential amino acid There are Eleven Non-Essential Amino Acids

CLASSIFICATION OF AMINO ACID

CLASIFICATTION BASED ON SIDE GROUP

1) Non polar amino acid
Hydrophobic has non polar side chain and found in protein core

Example
Alanine, valine, phenylalanine

2) Polar amino acid

Have polar side chain
Found as surface of amino acid

Example
Arginine, histadine, glutamine

3) Aromatic amino acid

It has aromatic ring

Example
Aspartate

4) Positively charge amino acids

Have positively charged (+) side chain
EXAMPLE
Lysine , Arginine
