Boyle’s Law
Objective: At the end of this experiment, the student should be able to state the
relationship of the volume of a confined gas and the pressure applied to it, with
temperature constant.
First Test
- Based from the video, we observed that once you placed your finger over the
opening at the bottom of the large syringe and pull the plunger downward, the
Second Test
- Based from the video, we observed that once you placed your finger over the
opening at the bottom of the large syringe and pull the plunger upward, the
balloon increases its size. When you release your finger at the bottom of the
large syringe, the size of the balloon goes back to its normal size.
Discussion:
First Test
As the balloon is increasing the pressure inside the syringe, the volume decreases
because of the pressure added which makes the air molecules to hold tight with each
other. According to Brian M. (2014), if there is a decrease in volume, there is less space
for molecules to move and therefore they collide more often, increasing the pressure.
One of the reasons why the balloon gets back to its original volume is because the air
molecules can be able to move again and they get out of collision.
Second Test
The second test of this experiment clearly states that when you close the opening of the
syringe and pull the plunger back it clearly demonstrates that you decrease the
pressure of the air inside the syringe and its volume increases (Smith, 2016).
Conclusion:
Boyle's law was strongly established in our experiment. Increasing volume decreases
correlation. As a result, we may conclude that the relationship between pressure and
pressure are linked. As a whole, this experiment confirmed the inverse relationship
between pressure and volume for gases. The pressure decreases as the volume
1. Describe the volume of the gas inside the balloon when the plunger was
pushed and pulled inside the syringe? Why did it happened?
- When you pushed the plunger of the syringe downward the volume of the balloon
decreases and when you pulled the plunger of the syringe upward, the volume of
which there is a relationship and connection between the pressure and volume of
2. What is the relationship between the volume and pressure of the same amount
of gas, if the temperature is constant?
- The relationship between the volume and pressure of the same amount of gas, if
the pressure of the air inside the syringe, its volume increases and when you
increase the pressure of the air inside the syringe, its volume decrease so it
