Multiplex PCR

Multiplex polymerase chain reaction refers to the use of PCR to amplify several different DNA sequence
in a single PCR experiment.

=> This process amplifies DNA in samples using multiple primers.

 It allows the simultaneous amplification of multiple targets in one reaction.

Advantages:

Have increased accuracy

More information with less sample

Cost effective — fewer dNTPs, enzymes, and other consumables

Time saving

Less input material required

More data from limited materials

Fewer pipetting errors

Disadvantages:

1) self-inhibition among different sets of primers

2) low amplification efficiency
3) no identical efficiency on different templates.

Application/Uses :
1) GMO detection
2) Forensic studies
3) RNA detection
4) Pathogen identification
5) Template Quantitation
6) Mutation Analysis
7) Gene detection Analysis
