WHAT IS
PHOTOGRAPHY?
“Ancient monuments
possess a lot of wisdom
and history”
Photo walk pictures with captions (5 Photos)
So, after attending my first Photo Walk by college , with all my classmates and faculty I had a really great experience in learning as
well as working as a photographer, in this Photo walk I got to experience some of the very different things.
Not all the surroundings give you the same treatment or expertise to learn . Every road leads to a different path out of our
understanding but we could step there through some gained or earned experience , and this was made within me by attending this
Photo Walk to Qutub Minar. Qutub Minar is a monument and not a fancy kicky place to capture contemporary photos. The place full
of classical architecture with fine texture made of old techniques could not be captured in the same manner as a modern
photography , however , this place made me capture the old architecture at its best as that was the main heart of the venue .A place
like Qutub Minar made my terms and conditions of shooting different and made me to set my creativity goals a way differently .The
traditional photography methods helped me a lot and made out some of the best clicked photos and also recorded videos by me.
This Photo walk gave me some differently angled expertise to work as a photographer . So, being on the ground level and capturing
the surroundings was such a great exposure to me.
Outcome of both the visits
Conclusion
• Both the Photo walks had a great impact on my photography skills in improving them as well as in adapting new skills.
• In addition to this, the way it was organized with our classmates was also a golden point here as we helped each other
throughout this project.
Assignment 4
We were all asked to report the qutub minar metro station 6am and wait there for everyone to come. After that we gathered at
the monument entrance and purchased the tickets, The entry ticket for an Indian is ₹40 and for foreigners it's ₹400. After
purchasing the ticket, we all entered the monument area and spreaded in groups to take the photographs. Although there are
shaded areas in the complex, it is advisable to carry sun protection and water, especially during summer months. Qutub Minar is
counted among the famous historical places of India. Qutub minor is present in Delhi, India .this tower, made of stones and
intents, is a very tall tower. Qutub Minar was built in the 12th century by Qutbuddin Aibak but the complete work of this was
done by Qutbuddin Aibak is the successor of Iltutmish.
Photo walk visit report
• The height of Qutub Minar is more than 72m meters high. Qutub Minar is India's tallest tower. This tower is also called
the tallest dome tower. On this, mostly Redstone has been used. After 1505, earthquake the Qutub Minar had suffered a
lot, and then it was repaired by Sikander Lodhi to reach the top end of the Qutub Minar, 379 staircases were built.
• As, we all students were divided in groups by our professors and roles were assigned to us. Each of the student in group
was asked to click photographs from different angles and viewpoints. We were also asked to explore qutub minar as
much as we can and adapt different photography styles to make our pictures more better and bold. The Qutub Minar
complex also houses another interesting ” monument”. The Iron Pillar is a roughly 6000 Kilogram weighing, 24-foot high
pillar that has Sanskrit inscriptions on it. Having grown up in the region of the Qutub, a theory attached with the Iron
Pillar is that if a person stands with his/her back to the pillar and manages to wrap his/her hands around it, then they
can wish for anything and it will come true. As a child, I was never able to do that, and now, over the past couple of
decades, due to the negative effects of “oily” hands being placed on the pillar, it has been cornered off. As the place also
has religious connotations, one should be respectful of the tradition and culture at all times.
• In order to keep the complex clean and tidy, most of the gardens have been cornered off, but there are a few places
outside the complex where one can still have a small picnic during the winter months. The entire Qutub Minar complex
is a well-maintained property with lush gardens, nooks and corners to explore, the forgotten past to re-discover, and it is
the perfect place in the city to immerse oneself into the charm of glorious architecture.
Photo walk visit report
• Then after spending some time at qutub minar and clicking no of photographs we all were headed to the Mehrauli archaeological park to
explore that place and click more photographs to enhance our skills and knowledge in photography
• Mehrauli Archaeological Park is one of Delhi’s oldest and yet, most significant attractions. The cluster of historically classified monuments
spread over an area of 200 acres, lying adjacent to the Qutab Minar complex in Mehrauli. There are over 440 monuments in the area; the
dates of which range from the British era, to much earlier, in the times of the effervescent Lodi dynasty. The park is home to the worn-
out tombs of many significant historical figures including Balaban, Quli Khan, and Sufi poet Jamali.
• Mehrauli Archaeological Park proves to be an excellent source of recreation for people of all ages. The educational aspect of ancient
ravaged monuments entices young minds while the organic beauty of several gardens crowded with thick rose bushes bewitches the
adults. Bustling with school expeditions and family picnics on the busiest of days, the park brims with a sense of an inexplicable nostalgia.
Regardless of what part you decide to explore, you are met with a wave of history and heritage. A subtle reminder of ancient art and
medieval culture, the Mehrauli Archaeological Park is no less than a paradise for every history enthusiast. Spreading over an expanse of
200 acres, the park is held in high cultural regard as it hosts more than 100 unique ancient relics. Along with being a hub of famous
graves and tombs, the park abounds with several mosques, gardens, lakes and other historic structures.
