Check
1 Check whether you have the required
qualification for assessing the safety of high-
voltage on-board electrical systems.
Service Information: Qualification measures SI00.00-P-0156A
for working on high-voltage on-board electrical
systems, lithium-ion batteries and gaseous
fuel drive systems
Tests before entry into the workshop for a
vehicle with faults in the high-voltage
battery module (A100), or in the high-
voltage battery (G1/9), or accident damage

2 Before entry into the workshop, perform a AR47.70-P-0017-01A
visual check of the high-voltage battery
module or the high-voltage battery and
detachable parts in the area of the high-
voltage battery module or the high-voltage
battery to check for fire, smoke development,
consequences of a fire, or internal heat
development.
Protocol points in the event of an acute
hazard:
A1 Smoke
A2 Fire
A3 Heat development
Smoke is often an early indication of fire.
If smoke development, tarnishing, or charred
detachable parts are determined:

Immediately make an emergency call to the

respective location- and country-specific
emergency call number and leave the danger
zone.
3 Before entry into the workshop, check whether
accident damage to the underbody or in the
area of the high voltage components is
present.
Service Information: Handling high-voltage SI54.10-P-0035A
batteries after an accident with airbag and/or
pyrofuse triggering
4 Before driving into the workshop, check AR47.70-P-0017-01A
whether a pungent odor can be identified in
the area of the high-voltage battery module or
the high-voltage battery.
Protocol point in the event of an acute
hazard: A4 electrolyte leakage (visible/
smellable).
The opening for pressure relief is located on
the top of the high-voltage battery module or
the high-voltage battery and is not accessible.
Electrolyte is volatile and has a pungent odor.
Additional tests in the workshop for a
vehicle with faults in the high-voltage
battery module, high-voltage battery or
accident damage
5 If no problems have been found during
operation steps 2 to 4, take the vehicle to the
workshop.
6 Connect diagnostic system and run quick test.
AD00.00-P-2000-06FR
If a fault message is present in high voltage
components or an isolation fault is present,

rectify these problems as part of the

maintenance work in accordance with the
repair documentation.
7 Check the housing incl. threaded connections AR47.70-P-0017-02A
of the high-voltage battery module or high-
voltage battery for mechanical deformation,
cracks, and openings as far as possible.
Protocol point: B1 to B5
Mechanical protective cover/housing
damaged.
8 Remove high-voltage battery module or high- If the high-voltage battery module or the high-
voltage battery. voltage battery must be replaced as a result of
previous tests or if the high-voltage battery
module or the high-voltage battery must be
removed for further tests.
