Good morning, sir. We’re from team Technamic. I’m Harrivinthiran.

I’m the team leader and

the manufacturing engineer. I’m Amarnath and I’m the programmer. I’m Lakiesha and I’m
the design engineer of the team. We took part in 2 competitions this year. This is the
prototype for the first competition we took part in. This is the Illegal Logging Detector. The
competition is called World Youth Stem Invention Innovation 2022. This competition was
organized by MYSO.
We won the silver award for this competition.
We designed and created the illegal logging detector because of a few problems that have
been arising in Malaysia. Firstly, destruction of forest. Timber is harvested transported,
bought or sold in violation of national laws. Besides that, enforcement of authorities.
Insufficient enforcement facilities, rangers and equipment. Lastly, environmental damage and
loss of government revenue. Deforestation, the loss of biodiversity and fueling climate
change.

We did some research related to this product. These are the results.

This is the methodology.

The materials used to build this product are:

GSM SIM900, MAX 9814 Mic, Arduino Uno R3, Vibration Detector, Portable Mic, Jumper
Cable, Case, Smart Phone and Portable speaker

After doing some testing, we’re proud to say that the outcome was successful.

This is the price comparison.

In short, the illegal logging detector is able to detect illegal logging activities within a 5m
radius. Also, it’s able monitor the forest 24 hours a day. In addition, it is small, compact and
affordable. Which makes it cheap and easy to get if needed. Finally, it helps reduce the
number of illegal registrations. Inform the responsible authorities immediately

In the future, we plan to improve a smart forest monitoring system by combining fire
detection, and air monitoring. Besides that, we plan to use image processing to detect illegal
logging activity. Next, we plan to store all information such as images captured and sound
recording 24/7 using cloud technology or a micro-SD card.

The second competition we took part in is the Young Innovators Challenge organized
by Sime Darby. This is our prototype. It’s called the Tot Track. For the Tot Track, the
competition is still ongoing and we’re waiting for the organizers to announce the
national 15 winners. We’re hoping to be part of the top 15.

To solve the world’s problem, start with one person.

Lack of supervision from parents or guardians has caused toddlers to get severely
injured. Parents find it difficult to monitor and keep track of their toddler’s
whereabouts 24/7. We decided to design and invent a product to solve these problems.

We did some research regarding this problem.

Our objectives were to create a device that’s able to monitor and detect a toddler’s
whereabouts. To ensure the safety of toddlers in an easier and cheaper manner. To
save time, money and energy.

The materials we used were a buzzer, ESP 8266, Ultrasonic sensor, Sensor holder, 3.7
V dry cells and a junction box.

This is the methodology.

In the future, we plan to add a camera to enable parents to have a better view of what
their toddler’s doing. We plan to increase the range of detection of the Tot Track. We
plan to increase the battery capacity of the Tot Track.

In short, parents are able to ensure the safety of their children in an easier manner.
Parents are able to leave their children alone at home without having to worry about
their whereabout.
