SCRIPT
beginning
(NOTE: Habang nagiintroduce na’ko, nakapwesto na kayo sa lugar nyo while naka freeze.

(Narrator) RAIZA: Good day everyone! We are group 8 and we are to perform a short skit
regarding our previous topic about speech acts. We encourage all of you to be considerate
through silent observing and listening. Thank you. 1, 2, and3, action!

On a fine and sunny morning, the three siblings were staying peacefully at home doing ordinary
stuff on such an ordinary day. Then suddenly, all were intrigued when the phone rangs.
(Brother) Jhon Paul: HEY! I think there’s someone calling on the phone.

(Sister 1) Ghecie: Okay, We’ll get it. (tatayo para sagutin ang phone)
Hello, this is Oarde’s residence. Who’s this?

(Father) John Michael: Ghecie is that you? This is your father!

(Sister 1) Ghecie: Pa? Gin, Kuya Paul! It’s Papa! Come here!
(Sister 2) Gin Rose: Ate Ask him how is he
(Sister 1) Ghecie: Pa, how are you?

(Father) John Michael: I am fine mga anak, But of course I am longing for my homeland. There’s no
place like in the Philippines.

(NOTE): Naka freeze na kayo niyan kasi mag e explain na’ko

(Narrator) RAIZA: “There’s no place like in the Philippines.“ is an Assertive type of speech acts, where
The utterances are produced based on the speaker’s observation of certain things then followed by
stating the fact or opinion based on the observation.

(NOTE): Tuloy sa acting

(Sister 1) Ghecie: Indeed pa, that is true. Would you like me to lend the phone to kuya?

(Father) John Michael: Yes please, I have something to say to him.

(NOTE): Bigay yung phone kay JhonPaul
(Father) John Michael: Hello Paul Anak, always remember to take care of your sisters for me, okay?

(Brother) Jhon Paul: Yes pa, I promise. I will look after them. Don’t worry.

(NOTE): Freeze ulit

(Narrator) RAIZA: That, my fellow classmate, is an example of Directive and Commissive speech acts.
Directive is when the speaker uses it to get someone else to do something. These speech acts include
requesting, questioning, command, orders, and suggesting. On the other hand, Commissives are speech
acts that the utterances commit the speaker to some future course of action, these include promising,
threatening, offering, refusal and pledges.

(NOTE): Bibigay yung phone kay Gin

(Sister 2) Gin Rose: Pa, please take care. We missed you so much! can’t wait to see you on Christmas

(Father) John Michael: I know Anak, me too. Never forget that I am proud to all of you

(NOTE): Freeze again

(Narrator) RAIZA: Expressive speech act is a speech act in which the speaker expresses feeling and
attitude about something such as, asking for an apology, thanking someone, and congratulating
someone.
Father) John Michael: Well, I best be off by now. I will call again soon. Goodbye

(All together); Bye Papa!

(NOTE): End of the story. Pero freeze parin kayo

(Narrator) RAIZA: And as to end this performance, the Declaration speech act is the act which brings the
change in the external situation. Simply put, declarations bring into existence or cause the state of affairs
which they refer to.
(NOTE): Sasamahan niyo na’kong tumayo sa gitna
(Narrator) RAIZA: We hope that we enlightened your knowledge about different types of speech acts.
Again this is the performance of Group 8 and

(SABAY SABAY: ) we thank you for listening.
