_ Visit to a School for the Visually Impaired

By XYZ

The Social Service Club of St. Anne's School sent a group of 15 students to 'Ek Koshish', a school
for the visually impaired on July 17. The group comprised students of classes X and XI
accompanied by their teacher Mr. Rajesh Daga. The students of other clubs sent gifts for the
visually impaired. I was one of the members of the team.

We reached the school at 8:00 am. On entering, from the gate itself, we saw many students
busy learning some skills or playing games that would help them hone their sense of touch.
After going around the school, we met the Principal, he showed us different ways of dealing
with and teaching various things to these special students.

I met a boy who in spite of his disability made a beautiful piece of craft, something which even
the ones with sight cannot create. Our group saw many Braille scripted books and many devices
that help these students to learn and lead a normal life.

Finally, we ended our visit by distributing gifts to the students. I really felt sad for them and the
visit had a deep impact on my mind. But there's a brighter side also, it is the side of inspiration,
hard work and optimistic view which makes people fight for their dreams.

A student of our group Aryan Bhatt said, " I really learned many things from our visit. Chiefly,
I'm really thankful to God for giving me everything." Our teacher Mr. Rajesh Daga said that next
time we will meet the children in the slums and try to make a difference their life.
