AUTOMOBILES
Automobile industry, the business of producing and selling self-powered vehicles, including
passenger cars, trucks, farm equipment, and other commercial vehicles. By allowing consumers
to commute long distances for work, shopping, and entertainment. The auto industry has become
one of the largest purchasers of many key industrial products, such as steel. The large number of
people the industry employs has made it a key determinant of economic growth.

2.2 HISTORY
The automobile industry around the world has expanded by leaps and bounds, but the evolution
of the Indian automobile industry has been such that it was quite surprising and occasionally
fascinating to witness. Did you know – the first car that plied on Indian roads was in 1897, owned
by Mr Crompton Greaves, and the first Indian to own a car in 1901 was Jamshedji Tata!

Before India gained independence from the British in 1947, the Indian automobile market was
widely acknowledged for imported vehicles, and assembling duties of the manufactured cars was
handled by General Motors.
12
2.3 THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

Characterized as a self-taught automotive expert, it was Mr K. A. B. Menon who established

Aravind Automobiles in 1956 with the motive of building an Indian car from scratch in Kerala.
The first Indian car to be manufactured on national soil was Menon’s Aravind ‘Baby’ Model 3 in
1966, a classic four-door sedan.

But because it didn’t get the patronage of the general masses and the prominent industrialists,
soon after the release of the Aravind came Hindustan Motors’ Ambassador, which became the
first locally manufactured car in India. Based on the Morris Oxford Series III, the Ambassador
had British origins, but it was still considered a definitive Indian car.

In the 1980s, Hindustan Motors met its match in the form of a new participant, Maruti Udyog
Limited. The auto industry’s evolution contributed quite a lot to the country’s economic growth,
while also helping out the finance and insurance sectors.

steering changes so that the front wheels move more than the steering wheel

HR marketing aims to create a powerful and positive candidate experience. This is

achieved through the combination of target group-specific content (employer branding
content) and a recruiting marketing strategy. These two components enable companies
to build and maintain relationships with their candidates. With this method, companies
can reach active as well as passive candidates and excite them about the company.

4.13 HR Marketing Components for Recruiting

26
Success
Over the past few years, HR has slowly begun overlapping with
marketing. Many HR departments have found success with utilizing
tools and strategies that are used in marketing, creating a new
discipline called HR marketing. Specifically in regards to recruiting,
there are several components that have become critical for HR
marketing success. In this article, we'll cover the 3 components that
every HR marketer should incorporate in their recruiting process .

4.14 How to improve your HR marketing strategy:

1. Post job ads on LinkedIn and Facebook
Posting job advertisements can also be done on social media. Both
LinkedIn and Facebook offer the ability to create and post job ads
that will be shared with relevant target groups. This is a great way to
reach potential candidates without them having to even leave their
favorite social media site. This strategy is particularly helpful for
reaching passive candidates, who are not actively seeking out new
positions.
` 2. Share jobs in relevant groups
Groups on social media are another way to get in contact with
potential applicants and to promote your employer branding. There
are numerous groups on all forms of social media, so it's best to do a
little research on your target group first and determine which
groups are the most relevant for them. Facebook and LinkedIn are
probably the two most prominent mediums to find groups.
Don't forget to think strategically before sharing your information.
For example, consider reaching out to the admin of the group first to
27
determine whether or not it's appropriate for you to be posting jobs
within the group. Skim the content previously shared in the group
and then make sure you are sharing positions that are applicable and
won't be considered spam by the group members.
3. Promote your talent pool
Building up your talent pool can be significantly easier when
utilizing social media as a tool. If you have multiple social media
accounts, you should be sharing your talent pool on all channels.
Again, it's important to do this in a way that won't be considered
"spammy" so consider limiting this to once or twice a month.
Creating mini-campaigns for sharing your talent pool could be a
creative way to gain some attention in a more natural way. For
example, share the day in the life of a current employee and end the
day of posts with a call-to-action to sign-up for the talent pool.
4. Share content on multiple channels
In marketing, content is king, and it's become an important part of
building up a well-known employer brand. While almost every social
media has the possibility of sharing content, one of the best options
for this is Facebook. Why, you might ask? Well, with 2.23 billion
active monthly users Facebook offers the biggest reach by far.
However, there are other channels that should be considered as
well. Pinterest might not be the first social media that you think of to
use in a business setting, but it is a great place for sharing content,
especially if you have a lot of visual content. Twitter and LinkedIn
are also common social media channels for sharing content.

28
5. Connect your social accounts to your career page and job ads
If you have social media accounts, they need to be connected to your
career page and your job advertisements. This gives potential
applicants the ability to learn more about your brand outside of your
website. They will also be able to follow your company and receive
updates on all of the content you share. It's a simple ad

4.14 HR marketing & employer branding

A company's employer brand is a key aspect of HR
marketing. Your employer brand is the way
that candidates and employees view your company, the experiences
and interactions they’ve had, and ultimately how they would
describe your company to another person.
29
Employer branding is the act of defining your employer brand. This
has a significant effect on the success of your HR marketing
strategies, because your employer brand is often what attracts and
convinces quality candidates. In order to promote a positive brand,
you have to take the time first to define what that means for your
company.

4.15 Employer branding and social media

Social media plays a large role in employer branding in
today's digital world. From creating a Facebook job board to
sharing visual content on Pinterest, there are almost an
unlimited number of ways to use social media to promote
your company online.
In terms of HR marketing, it's important to make sure that the
message being shared is consistent and relatable. It should be
something that sparks the interest of those who are interested
in your company. And they should then be convinced to send
in an application

4.16 The visibility problem

Every time a potential applicant is confronted with this type
of brand communication, it builds up a certain attachment to
both the corporate and employer brand. Medium-sized
companies are less visible than larger companies and
therefore often lose out in terms of brand awareness.

But how can this problem be solved if the budget is not

30
sufficient enough for large TV campaigns? - With
strategically oriented personnel marketing!

An excursion into brand management

The methods that need to be considered in brand

management are well known among people in the field. Brand
recognition describes accessing brand knowledge from our
memory. Brand recall goes one step higher and describes the
ability to remember past perceptions or experiences with a
brand in an unaided manner.

Large companies use these methods intensively in their

brand strategy. This gives them an advantage with consumers,
because they remember can their brand easily. This effect also
has an influence on the employer brand. What a person knows
31
is more familiar to him or her. It's no wonder that large
companies also have an advantage with potential applicants.

It is difficult for medium-sized companies to achieve this

status. And yet they can catch up in this respect through
certain strategies. There is a medium which makes it possible
to anchor one's own corporate brand and thus also the
employer brand cost-effectively in people's minds - the
Internet!
Using the Internet for HR Marketing
In 2018, the Pew Research Center found that 89% of
American adults use the internet. And according to a study
from USC Annenberg, the average American spends 24 hours
a week online. These data show how accessible consumers
and potential applicants are on the Internet. This promising
medium must therefore be used in the future in combination
with a successful HR marketing strategy.

HR Marketing" to find further resources
