 Performed DNA extractions on various leaf samples and assessed quality of extraction
using NanoDrop and gel electrophoresis.
 Assembled 500+ Populus samples’ genomes to create a phylogeny and analyze how the
chloroplast capture varies within Populus (P. trichocarpa and P. balsamifera primarily)
throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Genetic Counseling Job Shadow | Magee Women’s Hospital of Pittsburgh
February 2020
 Observed the day-to-day tasks of various careers on a hospital’s genetics unit (including
Genetic counselors (GCs), Genetic counseling assistants (GCAs), and Ultrasound
technicians) and interviewed each position.
 Attended multiple GC appointments with patients to learn the flow of a typical
appointment.
