Could your language affect your ability to save money?

In the video we needed to watch, the economist talks about how language, and the lack of
tenses in language, affects our ability to save money. He gives examples of how families that are
the same but speak different languages can save money.
I think that this is an economic theory. I, as a linguist, think that the absence of tenses in
the language does not affect our ability to save money in any way.
The ability to save money can be influenced by our thinking, in what environment we
grew up and what kind of people we were surrounded by. There are tenses in the Ukrainian
language, but some families know how to save money, and some do not know how at all.
To my mind, the most important thing to understand is that language alone does not make
a big impact on behavior, but thinking about the future does influence behavior in regards to
long-term savings and a healthy lifestyle.
