Marketing is the activity, set of institutions, and
processes for creating, communicating, delivering
and exchanging offerings that have value for
customers, clients, partners and socjety at large.
The 4 Ps are the key
considerations that must be
thoughtfully considered and
wisely implemented in order
to successfully market a
product or service.
Product: what you sell. Could be a
physical good, services, consulting, etc.

Price: How much do you charge and how

does that impact how your customers
view your brand?

Place: Where do you promote your

product or service? Where do your ideal
customers go to find information about
your industry?

Promotion: How do your customers find

out about you? What strategies do you
use, and are they effective?
"The best arguments in the world
won't change a single person's
mind. The only thing that can do
that is a good story.„

— Writer and Pulitzer Prize winner Richard

Powers, Overstory.
NIKE: „just do it” Nike identified an emotional connection
with its audience and connected
meaningful stories to its core values,
like motivation, inspiration, and healthy
living. Nike’s decision to integrate the
company’s value proposition with an
emotionally-driven message made for a
wildly successful marketing campaign.
Snickers: “You're not you when
you're hungry.” This Snicker’s campaign is effective
because it uses comedy to highlight
how their product, a quick and easy
candy bar, is the perfect solution to a
widely held problem of being “hangry.”
The brand identified a customer pain
point and positioned Snickers as the
sensible resolution.
• Japanese people traditionally eat KFC for Christmas
dinner, thanks to a successful marketing campaign
40 years ago. KFC is so popular that customers
must place their Christmas orders two months in
advance.

Do you know? • People in USA used to drink 48 gallons of coffee per

person per year in 1948, but today they only drink
23 gallons, partly due to soft drink companies
marketing sugary sodas as healthy, and coffee as a
poison that caused heart disease and birth defects
in the 1970s. Soda is now a leading cause of
diabetes and obesity.

• In 2009 Burger King launched a campaign that if

you unfriended 10 friends on Facebook you were
entitled to a free whopper. The ex-friend would
then receive a message explaining that their
friendship was less valuable than a whopper.
Marketing is an important and integral part of any good
business.

The theory behind the 4 Ps of marketing is that

conclusions covering all 4 Ps will result in higher sales.

Successful campaigns are those that contain powerful

stories and connect with their audiences emotionally.
