THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

Anime is a Japanese film and television animation and its aim is to entertain

children and adults. It can be watched, dubbed or subtitled. Students like to watch

anime especially in their free are loads of genres to watch, movie’s or by episodes.

Anime is found from many advertisements, the time variety of production categories

of anime even made it harder to conceptualize, requiring us to think and also

understand. Crawford is able to account for the disparities between anime genres and

to analyze Japan’s culture and history. Due to its distinctive storytelling and

aesthetics, anime is becoming tremendously popular across the globe in many

different ways. Another level of description, cartoons becoming notably more popular

than American animated series like anime could be viewed as an act of defiance

against an especially when it comes to things related to pop culture, as US-dominated.

Creative Writing is a form of writing that involves creativity, and its written

form the imagination of a writer, and therefore, their ideas and thoughts are

expressed. Creativity and writing skill are the key factor elements of creative writing.

Writing prose, poems, and drama which emerge from the creative imagination of an

individual are some forms of creative writing. Good writing can help the writer to
connect with the reader through proper communication, and it clearly expresses the

thoughts, ideas and opinions of the author.

In the Philippines there are additional choices including local networks that

broadcast the titles with Tagalog subtitles. And dubbed Tagalog anime The word

"anime" has made it into the prevalent teenage slang in the Philippines that can also

be used to describe someone's personality, look and general appearance. It has

certainly carved out a space for itself in Filipino youth culture and general awareness.

We Would like us researchers to see what anime helps to the students' creative

writing performance.

Background of the Study

Japanese animation refers to ‘anime’ that is a style of animation originated in

its state. Anime has a far longer history in which they modernized in the early 20th

century. The oldest example of Japanese animation is Namakura Gatana that means

Blunt Sword in 1917. In the first decades of the 20th century, animation from these

times shows artists trying to incorporate traditional stories and motifs in a new

modern form. The artwork styles of anime are unique and can be easily separated

from that of cartoon. The characters and the environment in an anime are described in

depth and tend to have detailed background stories. Japanese animation has all kinds

of genres to suit all ages and references including action, adventures, comedy, drama,

fantasy, mystery, romance, science-fiction, sitcoms, sports, and many more.

Anime have become more popular worldwide, especially in Western countries

during 1990’s with the export of animated films and videos from Japan.
Many of today’s school children, youth or teens were exposed to the media.

They begin watching television and are open to variety of program content in it,

including anime.

Anime brings significance, which is important in socializing because anime

help people to interact with other, especially when two people are in the same

fandom. But people not just in socializing anime brings importance but as well as in

education. Considering that anime give ideas to the students then gives new

knowledge.

In watching anime, at some point it is for entertainment only, but other see it a

learning tool, to learn new things, new languages and also new ideas. In watching

anime with different genres, you will enjoy it and the knowledge you get from the

anime, you can apply it in daily lives and also in school.

According to Angelo State University (Freshman College Signature Course)

“This is an interdisciplinary study and appreciation of contemporary Japanese

animation, Anime. Students will analyze and discuss the stories presented, write

about the messages contained in the stories, and coordinate a public presentation of

Anime. Students will also learn basic skills needed to be successful in college such as

using blackboard, the library, and the writing center.

A creative writing article stated, “creative writing can be considered any

original composition writing that is in no way guilty of plagiarism.” There are various

benefits to the act of creative acting. For example, it can develop emotional skills.

Creative narrates the information in such a way that a reader can get emotional while
reading it. Learning creative writing guides and encourages the creative process of a

writer and supports writing developments in all its components. Creative writing can

be effectively learned and taught using the various tools of digital technology. Digital

learning technology provides a wide range of delivery methods to strengthen the

skills of learners, thereby improving their creative practices.

Watching anime helps in Creative writing performance.

Theoretical Framework

In this research, theories will be significant as the basis and help to support the

variables.

According to (Barthes,1975) Initially, the issue of extending or restricting a

category. Secondly, 'normativism', or the situation where membership of the genre is

generally accepted by creators and consumers. Thirdly, monolithic definitions where

the text can be categorized within a single genre. Finally, a definition referred to as

“biologism'', where genres evolve and change. These factors were worthy of further

consideration in planning the methodology for the study. It was also necessary to

acknowledge that films may be categorized within more than one genre. The situation

may also arise where the influence of other genres is seen in the individual film text.

The concept of ‘intertextuality’, where one text influences another 84 is also a

particular characteristic of film categorization by genre. In the context of anime as a

filmic form, it is characterized by many sub-genres. As stated by Berndt (2018) posits

that anime can be used and examined much more broadly, opening up this art form to

society at large and not just fans.

These statements are used to identify what genre fits watchers to watch and

the factors of genres on Creators and Consumers of the movie or series. Influenced

genres based on true story or a Non-Fiction and Fiction. Anyone can be attached or

intrigue to watch anime so that they can develop their creative writing skills.

Currently, in Japan, anime has developed as a favorite type of entertainment

for both young and old people (Ellis, 2015). According to (Mak, Coniam & Chan,

2008; Yeh, 2017). In addition, creative writing activities may work “as a self-

empowering tool to achieve particular social positioning and hence self-esteem”.
