INTRODUCTION
 Full form of FIFA is Fédération Internationale de Football
Association.

 The championship has been awarded every four years

 There are held within the six FIFA continental zones


(Africa, Asia, North and Central America and Caribbean,
South America, Oceania, and Europe)

 The qualification process can start almost three years


before the final tournament and last over a two-year period

 The final tournament has been used since 1998 & features
32 national teams competing over the course of a month
in the host nation(s). There are two stages: the group
stage followed by the knockout stage

 The first president of FIFA was Robert Guérin

 Founded in Paris, France on may 21,1904

 At the 1908 Summer Olympics in London,


football became an official competition

 In 1914, FIFA agreed to recognise the


Olympic tournament as a "world football Robert Guérin
championship for amateurs"

 At the 1920 Summer Olympics, contested by Egypt and 13


European teams, and won by Belgium. Uruguay won the
next two Olympic football tournaments in 1924 and 1928

GOLDEN BOOT AWARD
 The Golden Boot or Golden Shoe Award goes to the
top goal scorer of the FIFA World Cup

 The first time this award was given in 1982

 1ST Golden Boot winner was Paolo Rossi (Italy).


He scored 6 Goals in this tournament.

 In 2018 FIFA World Cup Harry Kane


(England) won this award.

 Besides Golden Boot Silver and


Bronze Boots are awarded to the 2nd
and 3rd top goal scorer player.
GOLDEN BALL AWARD

 The 'Golden Ball Award' is presented to the outstanding


player at each FIFA World Cup finals.

 Silver Ball and Bronze Ball awards given to the 2nd and 3rd
most outstanding players in the tournament respectively

 1st Golden Ball winner was José Nasazzi
