INTERNSHIP

PROJECT WORK GUIDELINES FOR

MBA III SEMESTER (DAY & EVENING)

ACADEMIC YEAR 2021-2022 AND ONWARDS

These guidelines are to enable clarity in the actual project work. They do not supersede
the regulations of the MBA Course. They are supplementary to the Regulations.
Objectives Internship Project Work:

1. To provide a comprehensive learning exposure.


2. To nurture and accelerate an industry inquisitiveness learning approach among the
students of Management.
3. To promote building a professional network.
4. To create better understanding of industry analysis and explore various business
opportunities.
5. To empower students to undertake research and foster potential decision making skills.
6. To provide and promote practical exposure to industrial work settings.

Report Presentation:

1. Typing should be done on one side of the A-4 size paper.


2. The left side margin should be 1.75 inches, the right, top and bottom margin should be 1 inch
each.
3. Font size: Chapter heading: 18; Sub-heading: 14 and text of the running matter: 12.
4. Fonts to be used are Times New Roman.
5. The text of the project should have 1.5 line spacing; quotations and foot notes should be in
single-line space.
6. Chapter heading should be capitalized and should be kept at centre.
7. Tables, graphs and diagrams should have respective number, captions and source.
8. The body of the report must not be less than 120 pages.
9. Insert Header (with the title of the report) and Footer ( College/University name)
10. Justification of paragraph should be considered with one space bar after first word of the
paragraph.
11. Insert page number for five chapters (From Chapter one to Conclusion)
12. All pages in main text should carry the Arabic numerals placed on the bottom at the centre.
The Title page (Appendix I), Certificate of Originality (Appendix II), Declaration by the
Student (Appendix III), Acknowledgement and Table of contents etc. should be numbered
in lower case Roman numerals.
13. The numbering of chapters, divisions and sub-divisions should be done, using Arabic
numerals only.
For example: if main heading is 1 and sub heading should be numbered 1.1 for chapter 1
14. Table and Figures appearing in the main text should have appropriate numbers and captions.
Tables and Figures should appear in the centre of the page.
15. Endnotes should be numbered consecutively within each chapter or throughout the entire
report. Citations on the main text should carry the author(s) name with year, say for
example, Sharma (2011) or (Sharma, 2011) as the case requires. The full reference for the
citation should appear in the Bibliography.

Project Directives:

1. An Empirical Study is mandatory.


2. Students can undertake a problem within or outside the company. Within the
Company, it can be related to Finance /Marketing/ HR/Productionor any other issues.
3. Attaching a Plagiarism report is compulsory (at the end of project report)
4. Plagiarism:
a. Copying of material from any source without appropriate referencing the
source will initiate plagiarism procedures.
b. All the material that relates to the project, including completed questions or
tapes from interviews, should be shown to the guide and to be retained by the
students until the University has declared the results. Students are advised not
to dispose of the material away once their project is submitted, it may require
for future reference.
c. Any kind of plagiarism noticed by the examiner will entitle for malpractice
action.
d. It is expected that every institution creates necessary awakening among
students and faculty guides about avoidance of plagiarism and maintenance of
quality
5. It is mandatory to fulfil the chapter scheme as mentioned in the Frame work/outline of
the project.
6. It is compulsory to submit a Synopsis to the Department. The format of the Synopsis
is an abridged version of the final report.
7. The project should be performed individually.

Detailed description of project preparation:

Executive summary

 A brief explanation in one or two pages regarding the work done as per the current
study.

Chapter 1: introduction

Students must select anyManagement relatedproblem and conduct an Empirical study.

1.1. Detailed Theoretical background of the study:

Introduction to the concept of the study,meaning, and any other dimensions regarding the
topic of the study.

Contributions of the study to:


a. Business
b. Society and
c. Academia

1.2. Industry Profile/Survey /Industry back ground of the study:


 Global, national and regional perspectives of sectoral growth of the topic under study
 Role of particular sector in the support and growth of allied industries
 Contribution to the GDP of the country and to economy in general (Indian or World)
 Major global players in the particular industry
 Role of Central and State government as regards this sector
 Information about the production, distribution and consumption pattern of the particular
or selected sector for the study
 Challenges and contemporary issues related to the industry in terms of Indian economy
 Global and Domestic players in the selected industry.
 Internal and external factors majorly influencing the selected industry growth

Chapter 3

Research Design

3.1. Statement of the problem


The statement of the problem should briefly describe the problem or gap of the challenges
or existing in particular structure or the process or the problem that the research will
address.
3.2. Need of the study
Need of the study or the rationale of the study gives significance of the study, it describes
why the particular problem is undertaken and its present and future essentials of the
study.
3.3. Scope of the study
The scope of a study explains the extent to which the research area will be explored in the
work and specifies the parameters within which the study will be operating.

Scope of the study contains:

1. The population or sample of the study

2. The duration of the study

3. The topics or theories that will be discussed

4. General purpose of the study

5. The geographical location covered in the study

3.4. Review of literature: (At least ten publications must be reviewed)

 Title of the paper, author name, year of publication, objectives of the study and
outcome of the study.(For each paper/article/journal).
 List of findings from literature review

3.5. Research Questions


The questions should clearly state what the study intends to accomplish and an
appropriate scope.

The Objectives of the study should emphasis on the goal or the purpose of study
undertaken.

3.8. Operational Definitions (Concept) of the Study


It is the description of the concepts that feature in the current study.

3.9. Research Methodology


The type of the research undertaken should be mentioned here.

3.10. Data Collection


 Primary Sources of data collection (First Hand Information)
 Secondary Sources of data Collection (Published Sources)

3.11. Sampling Design:


3.11.1. Sampling Plan: A research sampling plan should clearly define the target population
or subset of the population

3.11.2. Sampling Method: Clearly mention the Sampling technique adopted for the study
like probability or Non probability sampling technique and why
3.11.3. Sampling frame:Mention the source from where the sample is drawn.

3.11.4. Sampling Unit: Sampling unit is the unit which is drawn from the sampling frame

3.11.5. Sampling size: It must enumerate the number of respondents are considered for the
study. The sampling size may be calculated by using the sample size formulae.

3.11.6. Plan of Analysis: The Plan of analysis should provide the Statistical and
Mathematical tools and techniques that will be used to analyse the data.

Chapter 4

Data analysis and interpretations

Introduction:
1. The initial questions should cover the respondent profile.
2. A minimum 10 Questions that are based on the study are expected to be analysed.
3. Each question should contain the following during the analysis:
A Table representing the collected data, followed by an explanation of the Table, a
Graph depicting the Table and the inference.
Every Table and other depictions should be suitably numbered.

 Or any other newly obtained documents if necessary

Chapter 5

Summary of Findings, Conclusion and Recommendations

This Chaptershould summarise the essentials findings of the study.

Solutions to the problems posed, alternative solutions, based on Internal and external factor
analysis should be shown here.

5.3 Conclusions:

It denotes the achievements made as a result of completing the project. This part of the report
concludes the challenges or opportunities of future perspective of a project.
