Problems Identified in Current Network are mention below:

1. In Current network Non PoE (Power over Ethernet) Technology base D-Link Switches and
Routers are installed that’s why they need UPS wired connection with proper power supply
sockets to their specific installed locations for power backup which increases the cost of wiring
and installation. It also makes Network more complex due to extra Electricity Wiring.
2. Current UPS is not in working condition and his batteries are also not giving proper backup to
Switches, Firewall and Access points (Routers).
3. Current Network Wiring is unmanageable due to its complex/redundant Wiring as many of LAN
connections are missing tags or wrong tagging which needs to be properly traced and retagged
with correct information.
4. No Active Directory is made with its configurations to manage and control user bandwidth in a
professional way.
5. It is difficult to implement Web Filtration on Current Firewall to avoid the unnecessary
consumption of bandwidth due to expiry of License.

Advantages of PoE Networks

1. It is highly suggested to use PoE (Power over Ethernet) Technology based Switches and Routers
as compared with regular switches and routers, there are many benefits of using PoE Switches:
a. You only need one cable as it carries both power and network capabilities.
b. Can easily expand a network even when power is problematic.
c. They are easy to maintain and checked - you can monitor them remotely.
d. You do not need an electrician to wire them in because they don’t need wiring.
e. PoE Switches are far more accessible than regular switches.
f. Cheaper to run - they don’t require power cabling, so you save on power cables and
outlets and any other usual infrastructure needed for installation. Also, ethernet cables
are cheaper.
g. Easy to relocate without power outlets.
h. Efficient energy distribution - PoE Switches automatically know the required power for
each device and supply only that. This results in less power wastage, ergo it saves
money.
i. With the rise of IoT (the Internet of Things), PoE Switches will future proof your business
will enable more devices on your network while optimizing usage.
2. PoE Network is Energy efficient with less power losses. As we don’t need a separate power
supply for the devices. An important point about PoE Switches is that the nominal voltage of the
power supply is around 48V. The first job of a PoE Switch is to determine whether a device
needs power or not. It will perform a simple Resistance Test on the terminal device (also known
as the Powered Device). It will then use the result from this test to label a device as PoE or Non-
PoE device. After that, the PoE Switch calculates the current requirements of the terminal
device. Using the results from this test, it will categorize the devices into one of two standards
as mentioned:
a. The IEEE 802.3af – 2003 is the first PoE Standard. As per this standard, a device
connected to the port of the PoE Switch can draw a maximum of 15.4 Watts from the
port. If we consider all the power losses, then the maximum power that a device can
draw is around 13 Watts. This is suitable for IP Cameras and Telephones.
b. IEEE 802.3at – 2009 is the latest PoE Standard and is also known as PoE+. PoE Switches
with this standard are capable of delivering up to 30 Watts of power to the devices.
3. Now, we may be wondering. Does PoE Switch need any special type of Ethernet Cable? After all,
they must carry both data and Power through them. The answer is we don’t. Regular CAT5/5E or
CAT6/6A cables are suitable for connecting PoE Devices to a PoE Switch.
4. The speed of data transmission depends on the capabilities of the Switch (Gigabit Ports or 10Gig
Ports). The cable also makes a difference as CAT5E maxes out at 1Gbps. CAT6A can transfer
10Gbps up to 100 meters.
5. Pure Sign Wave
