1. What is the responsibility of the individual in creating a safe environment?

The responsibility of the individual in creating a safe environment is to

widen his or her awareness and knowledge towards health by joining programs that
the department of health created. It is also the responsibility of the individual to
comply on policies that promote safety such as wearing of helmet and using
seatbelts in driving. To quit on smoking in order to protect not just their health but
other people as well. To engage in an exercise program to stay active physically, to
control the food that he or she consumes such as avoiding junk foods and sugary
drinks as much as possible. Having and promoting a proper diet. Last and most
importantly is to immunize their children in order to protect them from diseases
and avoiding the spread of it.

2. What are three public safety measures mentioned in the essay that do not exist in
underdeveloped countries, particularly in the Philippines?

The first public safety measure mentioned in the essay that do not exist in
underdeveloped countries, particularly in the Philippines is recognizing and
helping in placing doctors in rural areas. It is still very challenging to access
hospitals or health care services especially in remote areas. The community health
centers that are available can only cater to those with serious injury or illness.
Additionally, there is a lack of medical resources and hospital staff such as doctors
and nurses across the whole country. The second one is the Department of Health
public service announcement from TV which reminds people to take care of their
health by watching the food they eat, and to have a proper diet in order to get the
right nutrition for them to remain healthy. Most food advertisement or
commercials being shown in the media are full of cholesterol and are bad for the
health. The third public safety measure that does not exist in underdeveloped
countries, particularly in the Philippines is public health protecting the lakes and
streams from dangerous sewage runoff. The state of these bodies of water is not
good especially here in our country. Lakes are full of garbage, hazardous
chemicals, and oils. There are a lot of people living next to lakes and streams and
this affects their health greatly in a negative way.
