MARCO CLIMATE ANALYSIS

Region III
Central Luzon is one of the warmest regions in the Philippines with an average daily high temperature of
32 degrees. It is warm or hot yearlong. It is the country's largest contiguous central plain, and the region
is known as the Central Plains and Rice Granary of the Philippines. Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija,
Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales are its seven (7) provinces, as are two (2) highly urbanized cities, 12
component cities, 20 Congressional Districts, 116 municipalities, and 3,102 barangays.

 Sunshine hours per day


The number of hours of sunshine refers to the amount of time
when the sun is visible. That is, without any clouds, fog, or
mountains to obscure visibility. With 9 hours of sunlight per
day, April is the sunniest month in Central Luzon. The sun
shines the least in August.

 Rain days per month


A rainy day is one with at least 0.1 mm (=0.1 liter) of
precipitation per square meter. so, it doesn't have to rain all
day. August has the most rain days, with 22, while February
has the fewest.

 Precipitation amount in mm/day


Precipitation is expressed in millimeters per square meter.
Thus, at two millimeters per day, two liters of water fall on one
square meter every 24 hours. The smallest quantity of rain
falls in February, with only 0.6 mm. August, on the other hand,
receives the maximum rainfall.

Region 3 Topography
Central Luzon is a combination of towering mountains,
extinct and active volcanoes, lush, verdant farmlands,
and natural sea harbors. It has numerous marine
fishing grounds in Bataan, Zambales, and Aurora along
its extensive coastline. Forestlands cover about 45% of
the region's land area. Both Zambales and Bulacan are
rich in gold, silver, chromite, limestone, marble, clay,
sand, and gravel. The agricultural plains in Central
Luzon make up about 40% of the region's total area,
making it the country's largest plain. The majority of
the country's rice supply comes from it.
Temperature
In Luzon, the weather is hot, oppressive,
and cloudy. The temperature rarely drops
below 74°F or rises above 90°F
throughout the year, ranging from 77°F to
87°F. The area within 2 miles of Luzon is
covered by water (49%), trees (29%), and
cropland (15%), within 10 miles by water
(62%) and trees (26%), and within 50
miles by water (81%) and trees (11%).

Sun
The length of the day in region 3 doesn't
fluctuate considerably throughout the
span of the year, remaining in
somewhere around 30 minutes of 12
hours all through. In 2022, the briefest
day is December 22, with 11 hours, 45
minutes of light; June 21 has 12 hours
and 30 minutes of daylight, making it the longest day.

Wind
At a height of ten meters above the
ground, the wide-area hourly average
wind vector (speed and direction). From
June 6 to October 22 (4.5 months), the
wind comes mostly from the south, with
a 73% peak on August 15. For 7.5
months, from October 22 to June 6, the
wind comes mostly from the east,
reaching its highest percentage of 56 percent on January 1.

Humidity
The perceived humidity level in Central
Luzon, as measured by the percentage of
time in which the humidity comfort level is
muggy, oppressive, or miserable, does not
vary significantly over the course of the
year, remaining a virtually constant 100%
throughout.
NATURAL RECOURCES

Central Luzon is rich in timber and mineral resources (both metallic and non-metallic). Aurora is known for its
timber; Zambales for its refractory chromite, copper, and nickel deposits; Tarlac for Manganese; Bulacan for
marble; Pampanga for sand and gravel; and Nueva Ecija for feldspar. 

Fertile rice lands, melon patches and fishponds can also be found along rivers and tributaries.   Region III accounts
for the third largest aquaculture production in the Philippines. Aurora’s 332-kilometer coastline and Zambales’ 272
kilometers are teeming with marine resources.
