Cool Tools – Interactive teaching


Aim:
By the end of the workshop participants will have developed knowledge and skills in
the use of web based teaching technology.

Outcomes:
By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
• Develop an interactive tool

• Evaluate its use in their teaching

Sign up using your email

• New presentation
Create new presentation
Choose a slide
Add as many slides as you wish
Save presentation

Participants need a device that will connect to internet
Log onto your presentations
Enter code
Start interacting
PADLET

1. Google search padlet.com login

2. Click on Sign up for Padlet (if you don’t have an account)

3. Sign up whichever way you wish


4. You have created an account (try not to forget the password)
5. Login

6. This is your Dashboard


7. Click on “Make a padlet”
8. I like Canvas format (you can move things about easily)
9. Now you can create the title of your padlet (this can be done later using the
Modify tab)
10. When using it with an audience, I would make it ‘public’ in the People and
Privacy setting

11. OK, start posting… Double click anywhere on the padlet (or use the big pink
button)
12. Type in the box that pops up

13. You can edit/move/delete the post.


14. You can add an attachment – document, picture etc – icon in the post-box

15. You can position the file anywhere, just move the post-box

16. To share the PADLET, click on SHARE on top right of page and click on
Share/Import/Embed
17. You will see a QR code especially for this padlet. Click on Print Code, the QR
code will open in a new tab, here you can save (right click, save image as…)
or copy image (right click). Double click on the padlet and right click – Paste

18. You may want to email the padlet address, it automatically gives the padlet a
clunky web address. You can change this!
19. Click Modify (top right of page), scroll to bottom and under ‘address’ you can
rename your padlet

20. Don’t forget to save


21. This webaddress can be emailed - https://padlet.com/timetoteach/TEST
22. Invite others to interact with padlet. Remember you can move their posts
around and delete if necessary!
23. Click on padlet on top left of page to return to Dashboard
24. Have fun practicing!

1. Google Search ‘Socrative’

2. Select Teacher Login and ‘Get account’


3. Fill in details, select Socrative free
4. You have a room assigned to you but can change the name – click on rooms
and edit

5. Create a Quiz! Click on Quizzes

6. Click on the orange button ‘+add quiz’


7. Add quiz title – proceed to add question. You can choose between different
question types. Try True/False first
8. You can add pictures or other files here. Click Save when finished
9. You can add more questions, don’t forget to save
10. Once you have created your quiz, scroll to the top again and click on ‘Save
and Exit’

11. Invite people to enter your room. If they chose ‘Student login’ in Socrative,
they can enter your room number
12. This is what they see once they have entered the room name

13. Click on ‘Launch’ top left of page and choose what you want to start.
14. Click on ‘Quiz’ and choose a particular quiz
15. Decide on which way to run the quiz – do you want to display Students
Names – get instant feedback etc

16. Click on ‘Instant Feedback’ Students will be prompted for their names

19. When working through the quiz, students receive instant feedback on what
they have answered

20. When the quiz is finished, you will get the following data
21. Click Finish and decide how you wish to save the data
22. You can email the report to yourself – keep a record of students progress
23. Go back to Launch
24. Space Race is a fun way to challenge students
25. Click finish – you get the same options for saving the data
26. Click on Reports

27. At end of lesson, you can use an ‘Exit Ticket’

30. Under ‘reports’ there will be a record of the quizzes you have run
31. You can try the ‘quick question’ where you speak the question to the whole
class and they answer online – can help assess their understanding
