§Zdravka Evtimova is a Bulgarian writer.


She has four short story collections. She
currently works as a literary translator
from English, French and German. She
has won the short story competition of
lege artist foundation. Her short story title
“The little Boy” was nomated for the best
story published is an online literary
magazine in the USA and Canada in 2003.
§This story is written by Zdravka
Evtimova in 2003. The story is
about a nameless character who
runs a some kind of pet shop.
Everyday the main characters is
setting and waiting for some to
come in and buy something.

§This is a strange small woman
entered his room. And ask, are moles
here? Person had no moles.
§The strange woman goes slowly
outside finding herself hopeless in
finding a mole.
§The person felt pity so he had to make
a plan.
§The person cut his left arm and drop
10 drops of blood.
§He made the small old woman wait and
gave her the blood of his wrist
§The old woman left the shop and gave the
person some money which the person
disagrees accepting it, but the small
woman was in a rush.
§The next day the same old woman come
back and smiled at him saying “HE
WALKS”. She bought him things which is
also a gift for making her son heal with the
help on his blood.
§The next day a man comes
asking/begging for mole and blood,
and he denies it but he was forced to
and gave 3 drops of blood to the man
begging to heal his wife dying with a
mole of blood.
§The next days at his house many
people fighting each other to beg for
blood of a mole and the shopkeeper
was shocked.
§ man vs man- The shopkeeper and the
customers demanding blood of a mole.
§ man vs society- The people in the end
demanded more blood from the shopkeeper.

shopkeeper had a dilemma on how to help
the strange woman and the people

§Mole
The mole or blood of a mole can symbolize any
resource or need that people must have
desperately, including water, food or medicine.
§ “The
Blood of a Mole can Cure sick
people” – Metaphor

§They are making medicine using


animals, like in the story, they used
the blood of moles as a medicine.
§ Murder- The people are willing to do
anything for the blood and what they need, even
if they will resort to murder, which they are
likely to do in the end.
§ Greediness- The people became greedy for
blood of moles because of the belief that it has
great medical abilities.
§ Desperation – The people are desperate for
a cure of illnesses and despite the knowledge
that the blood is not of a mole, they accept it.
§The title implies the story,
because it states that they used
the blood of a mole as a
medicine to cure those people
who has illnesses.
