"Instructional/Pedagogical Model with A Variety of Strategies and

Approaches".

Discuss this, "How would you deal with a student with special needs in promoting
learning in a classroom?"

Learning Strategies for Special Needs Students

During the past two decades, it has been recognized that the needs of special needs
students is not fully served by regular education. In order to meet the needs of children,
special education has been developed and number of special needs children served is
increasing. Special education classes offer a special service to students with physically
or mentally disabilities. The optimal special education classroom provides students with
disabilities with quality instruction. Although the demand for online learning and the
inclusion of special education students in mainstream classes appears to be in recent
days, special education classes for seriously handicapped students remain necessary.
The special aim of the classroom environment is to give the students who need it more
intensive and individual focus.

Other than that, forming small classes of two or three students in a grouped class
will help individualise the teaching without losing the time required for teaching. For
instance, in Math class, one group can focus on the basic and an intermediate group
can work on their expertise in geometry. Students are clustered along their academic
journey according to similar standards of skills and goals. Another successful means of
grouping student is by classroom centres. In a certain location or degree each centre
will specialise. In terms of curriculum and teaching content the centres are self-
contained. They will also be very self-explaining and self-directed, so that the teacher
rotates between the various centres. The groups could be facilitated by an assistant,
adult, or volunteer. Such centres, without giving up further direct teaching time
completely, will find a balance between self-explanatory.

A further method of teaching students at different stages is to teach the entire

community basic principles when combining them with individual teaching. Because
every subject has certain general principles that may be applicable, students will learn
from this regardless of their skill level. Reading understanding methods, the
fundamental principles of mathematics, the organisation of writing ideas or even science
theory are some examples of common concepts that can be learned to help what each
student in this field learns. This expertise will then be used by students for their
individual tasks. But for more advanced students, the instructor could still add additional
material.

Besides, the lessons should be rotated in the various classes or centres so that
the instructor could bring new content into a group every day while checking other
people who are carrying out more individual tasks. In such an educational period the
teacher assistant may also be of use. The subject is where a single topic is linked into
many topic fields. In special education classrooms this form of teaching has been very
successful. A "theme" may be something about a current occurrence that enhances the
ability to listen, read or write. For example. all other topics can be connected to a
historical incident. The subject should be centred with something that captures and
maintains students' interests.

Since the classroom will have a range of skill levels, ensure that various levels of
textbooks and other educational resources are available for each subject. The ability of
each pupil to learn at a number of levels is assured. This reduces stress and maximises
confidence and progress in the pupil. If you can see, certain changes can effectively
improve the instruction of special education students. Regardless of the severity of the
disabilities, courses should be structured around the extent of functioning of individuals.
Other than that, teacher should not to give up quality time for personal education.
Whatever the students deal with, unity and integration are possible, regardless of the
subject or the various stages. The instructors will assist with strategies like sorting,
study centres, alternating lectures, selecting patterns in the classroom and providing a
wide range of texts and content in their special education classrooms.

In conclusion, it has been suggested that legislative, institutional and financial

provisions for those with special needs are necessary to benefit as those with common
behavioural traits from equitable schooling and living opportunities. Individuals with
special needs have a different physical, social, behavioural and emotional growth
criteria and traits than their peers. Individuals with special needs may for a variety of
reasons vary substantially from their age in terms of individual features and education
expertise.
