Earth Metal Detecting Club

Annual Awards and Holiday Party

The 2018 Earth Club annual Christmas Party was again a smashing suc-

The atmosphere, staff and buffet were all excellent. We had 40 me
mbers and guests attend. The Club treasury was able to subsidize the cost
of the dinner so each member only had to pay $10 (non-members-$18).
Members were also encouraged to bring a desert dish of their choosing
which resulted is a wide array of delicious sweets after the meal.

Scavenger Hunt Results:
This was our 5th year of the Scavenger Hunt contest. Each spring, Larry Ehlinger comes
up with 40 items for members to try and find throughout the season. After Peter Sorrell nearly
ran the table a couple years ago, Larry decided to change it up some by adding items like you’d
find at parks, playgrounds and beaches…. Places Peter doesn’t hunt. Larry also began to
incorporate junk items like a pencil eraser end, a pen, a toy action figure, Pepsi screw cap and
performing a metal detecting community service.
Each year when Larry compiles the list he tries not to have too many repeated items. The
list is generally broken down into 1/3 easy, 1/3 moderate and 1/3 difficult items to find. The
first year we had 14 entries; in 2015 we had 15 entries, in 2016 we had 12 entries and last year
we only had 9 participants. This year we had 9 participants as well. The results are as follows:

Margaret Ferjet 30- Silver Round

Larry Ehlinger 27- Obsolete Coin Set
