WHAT IS A RECYCLING
BIN?
Recycling bins are receptacles that are normally used to
keep different materials that have been considered
recyclable.

The main purpose of these bins, is to collect things that

would have ended up in the landfills. Then special
companies reprocess these materials to make new things.
help the environment
1.CONSERVATION OF NATURAL RESOURCES

If you do not recycle, new raw materials go into the

making of new products. So, you can save the resources
and protect the natural habitat for the future.

2. SAVE ENERGY

When recycled materials are part of the manufacturing

setup, the energy costs go down. This is because you
need lots of energy for making products from raw
materials.
3. SAVE MARINE ECOSYSTEM

A big amount of plastic harms the marine ecosystem in

an adverse way. It is very difficult to clean up the
oceans. An ideal solution to reduce is called 3Rs:
reduce, reuse, and recycle.

4.CUT DOWN LANDFILL WASTE

Disposal areas are a big problem for the environment.

They cause soil, water, and air pollution affecting animal
life, local ecosystems, and drinking water.

Group Activity

In groups of 3, you will create a poster in order to begin an

awareness campaign in our school.

These posters will be created with the purpose of increasing the use
of recycle bins in our school, and make a description of each kind of
bin to recycle everything we can.

Look at the examples in the following slide, and make a draft of the
poster in your notebook.
