EU07 locomotive manual for drivers (Simrail)

1. Make sure you're in cabin A. Open the flap on the left side of the control board and turn up
the battery switch.

2. The battery voltmeter will read approximately 90V.

SHP (automatic safety brake device) test will activate.
To apply, you have to turn the direction lever to forward or backward position and press the
vigilance button.
3. Turn the cabin’s activation key to the right.

4. Turning off batteries activates differential relay. Hold the unlock button until the signal
light goes off. If it doesn't work, make sure that the drive control wheel and shunt regulator
lever are both in zero position.
5. Raise pantographs. Wait for a voltage of about 3 kV to appear on the voltmeter.

6. Close main switch. If it doesn't work, make sure that none of the overload relays are
active and that pressure in the main tank is above 0.35 MPa.
7. Turn on the converter. Wait for charging current to stabilise.

8. Turn on the compressor. Wait for the main tank to fill up. Watch the right manometer.
9. Turn on the radio and select the desired channel.

10. Set the service brake lever to running or fill position. Hold the release button until
pressure in the main pipe reaches 0.5 MPa. Watch the middle manometer.
11. Make sure that parking brakes in both cabins are released. In the window you should
see a yellow shield with the word "LUZ".

12. Release the local brake. Wait for pressure in cylinders to drop to 0 MPa.
13.Turn the drive control wheel to the FIRST position. Wait for line breakers to close
(blue signal lamp will turn off) and closing of starting circuits (orange signal lamp will
turn on and current will appear on amperemeter).

14. Work your way through the starter resistance positions as quickly as possible, trying
to drive on positions 0, 28 i 43. Then the whole current passes through traction engines.
Watch out amperometers to not exceed 600 A. On not-resistance positions you can
increase speed by lowering engine field using shunting handle.
15. To brake, turn both the control wheel and shunting handle to zero and pull the
service brake handle towards you. Drop 0.05-0.2 MPa from main pipe depending on
desired braking force. Watch the middle manometer. Left one shows only pressure in the
brake cylinders of the locomotive.

Popular malfunctions

1. Alerter/SHP engaged. Press the vigilance button. If both systems are activated at the
same time, you have to press it twice. With lack of reaction for visual and sound warning,
emergency brakes engage. If pressure in the main pipe manages to drop below 0.35 MPa,
you have to set the service brake handle to running or fill position and hold the release button
until pressure rises to 0.5 MPa.
2. Traction motors overload relay engaged. If current exceeds 600 A, overload relay engages.
Set the control wheel and shunting handle to zero. Press unlock traction motors overload
relay button. Red signal light will turn off.

3. Compressor overload relay engaged. This relay engages when you turn on the
compressor before converter power stabilises. Turn off compressor and converter.
Unlock compressor overload relay. Turn on the converter. Wait for it to reach stable speed.
Turn on the Compressor.
