UNITED INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY (UIU)

Dept. Of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE)

Trimester: Fall , Year: 2022
Course: EEE 1003 (Sec – A,B), Title: Electrical Circuit II

Assignment 2
Full Marks = 50
Submission deadline: 16th November (in class)
Q1. A current i = 10 cos 157t amperes flows in an RL circuit containing R=15 ohms and
L=0.0637 henry.
a) Write the equation if υ as a function of time, employing numerical coefficients.
b) Sketch v and i and comment on their phase relationship

( )
Q2. A voltage υ = 200 cos 157t + 30 0 volts is applied to a particular circuit element, and it
( )
is found, by oscillograph analysis, that i = 5 sin 157t − 150 0 amperes. Sketch the υ and
i waves. Find the nature and magnitude of the circuit parameter.

Q3. A resistive element of 151 ohms is connected in series with a capacitor of capacitance. A
500-cycle sinusoidal voltage, the maximum value of which is 15 volts, energizes the RC
branch.
a) Write the expression for the supply voltage, choosing the t=0 reference at the
point of maximum positive voltage.
b) Evaluate ZRC completely.
c) Evaluate the expression for i.
Q4. In the circuit shown in Fig. , determine the value of the inductance such that the current
is in phase with the source voltage.

Q5. Determine the value of ω in Fig. such that the peak value of i(t) is 2 A.
