Brian Hampton's play "Gossip" follows a new girl at school named Gossip.

She is introduced to the school by Tim, her

first-day partner. She meets Dallas, Tim’s girlfriend. After meeting her, more students start introducing themselves to
her, especially the twins: Cangy and Kaine, and Tim’s Best friend, Andy. Later that day, Dallas invites Gossip to a party.
She got excited and accepted immediately. They start talking for a bit before class.

The fall production is finally here. Dallas plans on auditioning for the lead role Julie in the theater play, but she also
pursues Gossip to audition for the role. After a few weeks, Gossip became overbearing, leading Dallas to shout at her.
She then soon realizes what she just did and starts apologizing.

Gossip begins to feel victorious as she finally gets what she wants, fuel to cast in a burning fire. She pretends to accept
the apology then later on; she starts twisting every word Dallas has said. She tells the twins a bunch of lies about many
things. Now holding the hands of manipulation, she successfully fools the twins into believing her.

Dallas begins to feel ill. As Gossip spots Tim, she takes the opportunity to talk to him, she begins to lie to him about
Dallas's conflicting feelings for him. She then tells him about her being in love with someone else, this time with Andy.
Andy and Tim's friendship is now also crumbling.

Tim, constantly at odds with Dallas about their convoluted relationship, concludes that they're both done. Dallas never
returned, so he never got the chance to tell her. Later on, Gossip reveals her affections for Tim, and he says he feels the
same.

The school's Spring Musical is approaching, and Gossip is unchanged. Kaine plans on auditioning for the lead role but
Gossip begins to underestimate Kaine's capability. She later consults Cangy for information. After speaking with Cangy,
she returns to Kaine to alter Cangy's remarks. The twins are no longer together.

Gossip is now firmly in charge of the whole school, and thanks to her extensive manipulation, everyone is at her
fingertips. Tim began to notice what was going on at school. He questions Gossip about the rumor she informed him
about. Gossip responds with more lies. He knew that the power she has had been created beyond her self-awareness,
and she had transformed into another person, Dallas.

He begins to research each lie, attempting to determine who told it and where it began, and it all leads back to Gossip.
Tim approaches Gossip and tells her that she has to quit lying. He then puts an end to their relationship.

The students lost faith in gossip. She grew anxious to reclaim the authority she once had. Everyone began to move away
from her. She was all by herself, dejected, and alone.

The principal then summoned the students to a special assembly, where they were given an unexpected announcement:
Gossip had died.

Andy decides to attend Gossip's burial, just to be informed that there was no service for her; is she truly dead?
