To design any steel structure using sap :

1- Define a frame section called "Auto" this section includes

any section that you may use from the standard sections.
2- Draw the geometry
3- Define the combinations manually or using the auto
combination
4- Run the model
5- Click on design then steel frame design
6- Click on design then verify the run again
7- Repeat the last step until the message gives zero
elements
8- Reassign the sections manually instead of the auto
section.
