What’s at stake tonight?

Malta is coming to town tonight for some good ole
basketball games. The games were scheduled for Dec. 22,
but Malta decided to cancel all activity buses on Tuesday
before the scheduled games. The night was to have the
Mustangs taking on Glasgow boys followed by the Scotties
and Mustangs wrestlers in a dual. The girls are to wrap up
the evening with a basketball game.
The weather was a little cold the week of Christmas with
temperatures dipping way below zero. However, Malta came
out with a statement on Tuesday saying they suspended all
activity buses for the week, yet they sent the activity buses to
Havre that night for games with the Blue Ponies.
So the games were rescheduled for tonight with the
boys playing at 5 p.m. and the girls at 6:30. The Scotties also
travel to Saco Thursday for a non-conference twin bill with
North Country with the varsity girls playing at 6 and boys at
7:30 p.m. Friday the Scotties host Scobey at 6:30 for boys and
8 for girls.
What’s at stake tonight? The Scotties are still searching
for their first win of the season on the girls side and the boys
for their second win.
Glasgow girls have been in the close games, but have
been on the wrong end of the score. The Scotties come into
tonight with a 0-5 overall and 0-1 in District 2B. Malta is 4-1
and 2-0.
The Scotties are 1-4 and 0-1 on the boys side and have
also played some close contests. The Mustangs are 3-2 and
2-0.
North Country coach Amber Erickson, in her 21st
year, has developed one of the top programs in Class C girls
basketball. The Superior grad brings in an overall record of
340-150. The Mavericks are 7-0 and 2-0. The boys are 2-5
and 1-1.
