Adverb Function
Really / very / extremely Strong. They intensify the adjective used.
Fairly / pretty / somewhat Less than… They weaken the adjective used. The quality is present, but at
a limited extent.
E.g.: Although Cuenca is a very beautiful city, it’s pretty boring, especially at night.
I don’t think it’s a good idea for tourists to visit Ecuador nowadays because it’s been too dangerous since the pandemic
started.
When I traveled to Italy, I didn’t like Venice because the streets were extremely smelly.
Beaches in Manabi are too relaxing, that’s why I prefer to travel there on vacation.
Wrong. “Too” ALWAYS indicates something bad.
Beaches in Manabí are very relaxing, that’s why I prefer to travel there on vacation. Correct.
Quito isn’t very fun because there aren’t many good options for people to enjoy.
Don’t forget:
The indefinite article “a / an” is used only if there’s a noun accompanying the adjective.
Avengers is a very fun. Wrong. “A / An” needs a NOUN.
Avengers is A very fun movie. Correct.
