Putting together the 5 flowers given by Mayen and the 3
flowers given by Marley, mother receives 8 flowers.

We can write this as:

5 and 3 = 8 or

5+3=8

We can read the sentence as

Five plus three equals eight.

The pupils will talk about the sets. Let us put them
together .What is the new set? Call pupils to draw the new set?
