Greetings!

The Organization of Hospitality Management Students (OHMS) is going to conduct its National Book
Week celebration with the theme “Basa. Bayan. Bukas” on November 25, 2022 starting 8:00 AM- 5:00
PM at MPCI Library. The purpose of this can help in improving the students' language proficiency and
develop their communication skills. This is a way for the students of the BSHM Department to come
together to celebrate and display their talents, skills, and literary and reading creativity. This is done to
help students of our school to get to know each other and to develop connections and relationships which
is vital for a harmonious academic year.

In relation to this, our organization would like to humbly ask for your permission to excuse the students
who will be participating in the event from their respective classes to attend the event that was organized
by the OHMS from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

We are hoping for your kind consideration and support for the event. Thank you!

proficiency and develop their communication skills. This is a way for the students of the BSHM
Department to come together to celebrate and display their talents, skills, and literary and reading
creativity. This is done to help students of our school to get to know each other and to develop
connections and relationships which is vital for a harmonious academic year.

In relation to this, our organization would like to humbly ask for your permission to excuse the OHMS
officers from their respective classes for the whole day for the reason that they were the one who will be
facilitating the event and for the restoration of the MPCI Library where the event will take place.

BOOK MONTH CELEBRATION 2022: CAPTIONS FOR POSTING

MAIN PUBMAT:

"Reading is the gateway skill that makes all other learning possible."-Barack Obama

In pursuant to the celebration of National Book Month, the Organization of Hospitality


Management Students will conduct its National Book Week celebration with the theme "Basa,
Bayan, Bukas" on November 25, 2022, starting at 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. at the MPCI Library.

This is a way for all BSHM students to come together, collaborate, and show their talents and
skills when it comes to reading and comprehension. There will be exciting activities and prizes
that we have prepared for all the participants who have the courage to register.

In line with the National Book Week celebration there are different activities and/ or competitions that
OHMS have created for you to enjoy. With this, we are encouraging all of you to join the Bookface
competition, Bookmark Competition, Readathon Competition, and Quiz Bee. Each Year Level is
expected to have at least one (1) participant in every competition. The deadline of registration for each
competition is on November 24, 2022. Kindly coordinate with your Year Level Representatives or Year
Level President if you wish to join the said lineup of events or you have any concerns in our National
Book Week Celebration.

Come and join us! We will be more than delighted to see you all at the event. Thank you, and

MECHANICS OF BOOKMARK COMPETITION


1. This contest is open to all MPCI Hospitality Students of all levels.
2. Construction paper, yarn, brown cardboard and five pieces glue are the only materials
that will be provided by the officers.
3. It is a must to bring your other materials needed upon joining the competition.
4. It is highly restricted to talk with the other participants during the time duration given in
creating your bookmark.
5. Each student may submit only one entry.
6. The artwork you submit must be your own unique work.
7. The theme should be promoted in the design: “Basa. Bayan. Bukas”

MECHANICS OF BOOKFACE PHOTO COMPETITION

1. The contestants will pick a book/s that has a human face and/or any body part in its
cover. The book/s can be personally owned or borrowed from the public libraries.
2. The contestants will snap a photo using the book cover/s to augment or obscure any part
of his/her/their body/ies or face/s.
3. Entries will be shared by the Committee in the OHMS Facebook page.
4. To qualify, contestants and reactors shall:
“like and follow” the Facebook page of OHMS.

MECHANICS OF QUIZ BEE COMPETITION


1. The coverage of the quiz bee includes General Subjects of Hospitality Management from
1st year to 4th year.
2. It is open to all Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management students of MPCI.
3. Each group must have four (4) members, one representative per year level.
4. The group will write their answers at the white part of the illustration board.
5. All groups will answer the same set of questions in writing. Before the question is read,
the group must raise their markers.
6. There will be three (3) components in the competition namely: Easy Round, Average
Round and the Difficult Round.
7. The easy round has ten (10) multiple choice questions worth 1 point, the average round
has five (5) questions worth 3 points and in the final round has three (3) questions worth
5 points.
8. The questions will be read by the quizmaster twice.
9. The Quizmaster shall say “go”, only then the groups be allowed to write their answers.
10. During the easy round, each group will be given 15 second time-limit to write their
answer: for average round one (one) minute will be allotted in answering the jumbled
letters and for hard level one minute and 30 seconds will be given in answering the
identification questions.
11. The time-limit will begin with the word “go” by the Quizmaster.
12. After the time-limit, a signal will be given by the time-keeper. The groups must stop
writing and must raise their answer boards.
13. The Quizmaster shall read and verify the group's answer.
14. The group who gets the highest number of points is automatically declared the champion
or the runner-up as the case may be.

MECHANICS OF READATHON COMPETITION


1. Participants in the competition will receive a story to read for twenty (20) minutes.
2. After the given time, they will narrate what they have read as detailed as possible based
on his/her understanding.
3. The participants with the highest points after the competition will be crowned the
winners.
