4E Entertainment Hip-Hop Showcase

August 12th from 6:30 until 11:30 @ Boss Ultralounge with artists from Huntsville, Mobile, and New Orleans set to perform. The Showcase will spotlight the diverse nature of and shine a light on the thriving underground Hip-Hop culture of Birmingham. The show will include Shurlock who is a twenty year vet in the industry and has produced Top 40 hits with So So Def, Arrested Development, and the Temptations. His live band performances have made him legendary at festivals on the West Coast, especially the Northwest. Then we have S. Fly of the Red Light District who produced the Emmy-nominated soundtrack for the APT documentary, Thornton Dial Has Something to Say. Along with the grown-man hip-hop, we will also infuse Murc Camp and Griz who represent some of the most dynamic and thought-provoking street savvy rappers in the South. But Hip-hop is much more than rappers, its a culture. A culture defined on free-form expression and the fusion of not only different musical genres, but different forms of art. To give a taste of the diversity of hip-hop there will be an infusion of R&B (Birmingham songbird Chanon Kurpatrick will be on the scene), poetry (John Paul Taylor of the Real Life Poets) and some other surprise guests & musicians. The night will be one continuous ride with a mixture of live band performances, DJ battles, and improv Jam sessions to keep the crowd moving.
