I. Answer any Four questions

1. Define Mask and explain different types of spatial filters used for image smoothing?
2. Describe image-sharpening techniques using frequency domain filters.
3. Define segmentation. Explain the importance of Thresholding in image segmentation
process.
4. Show that the Sobel/Prewitt gradient mask gives isotropic result only for horizontal
and vertical edges, and for edges oriented at ±450
5. Write short notes on Point Detection, Line Detection, and Edge Detection.
6. Compass gradient operation of size 3*3 are designed to measure gradient of edges
oriented in eight direction: E, NE, N, NW, W, SW, S and SE. Give the form of these
eight operators using coefficients value 0,1 or -1. Specify the gradient direction of
each mask.
